I know that Harvard is well known for their grade inflation, but I have heard that this isn't so true in pre med courses.Apparently, pre med at Harvard is incredibly competitive compared to the rest of the school. Can anyone comment on this and compare Harvard to other top schools?

Comment on inflation or pre med at Harvard?

a student can take different routes at harvard. the easy basket weaving route or hard core stuff like biology and chemistry.

The courses you need for pre-med are also required by a ton of majors at Harvard, so there’s no way to say those particular courses are any harder than any other. In general, Organic Chem is just going to be harder than English 101.

If you’ve got a degree from Harvard (or any Ivy), you’ve got a leg up on most anybody else wanting to go to med school, all other things being equal. You just do. Whether that is because of the Harvard name or because Harvard isn’t exactly known for letting dolts into the place is unknown.
