Hi everybody!
I am an applicant from Iran.
I got an interview with an admission officer from Harvard college today.
What does it mean?
How can I get prepared for it?
It means that you applied to Harvard.
It doesn’t have anything to do with the strength of your application – nearly all applicants are offered interviews (usually with local alumni).
I mean what is the difference between alumni interview and admission officer interview? Do they ask questions related to my applucation or routines questions like
What alumni interviews of other Ivy leagues ask?
Thank you for your attention.
I’m an applicant from Iran who got an interview offer from an admissions officer too!!
Hi:)
When is it your interview?
International applicants are offered interviews only if they are strong contenders. Your application will likely be discussed in the upcoming subcommittee meetings. There is no particular distinction between an interview with an admissions officer vs. with an alumnus/a, other than the admissions officer is a professional. Some are relatively new, and others are experienced. Google “Harvard interview questions” and look at several websites. Write a few bullet points for each question. Don’t memorize your answers, but you might want to practice speaking out loud.
Not true for international applicants and domestic applicants from areas with few interviewers.
Interviews with admissions officers should be taken more seriously than those with alumni. Your interview will have a much bigger impact on your application if its with an admissions officer, since you are directly interacting with them. You will leave a greater impression on an admissions officer if you talk to them rather than them reading a 150 word report from an alumni. Use this opportunity to your fullest!
@Fatemehab, i got interviewed on Thursday. When will you get your interview?
@Fatemehab I’d love us to talk more. However, it’s really annoying that I can’t send you a private message! If you’re enthusiastic about having a conversation on applying to US universities we could find another method of communicating!
