Harvard Interview - International Student

Hi,
I am an int. student and they have offered me an interview for Harvard.
Is this a good sign?

It’s neither positive nor negative.

Thanks!
Also, I forgot to mention that the interview will be via skype

Depends on where you’re from. If your country is listed under those with limited interviewers, then yeah it’s definitely a good sign since interviews in said areas are selective.

Well I just finished my interview with an admission officer over Skype.
It was really good, he asked me a lot of questions about my country and MANY personal questions (but we barely talked about any academic stuff).
He was really nice and I think that the interview went really well.

Hey @SephardicJewESA, I’ve just been notificed for a Skype interview with an admissions officer. I have some questions for you, if you don’t mind answering them. Can you elaborate on what sorts of questions the officer asked? How long did your interview last? How should I prepare? Thanks so much!

@deepthought80‌
It lasted a little bit more than an hour.
He asked me A LOT about myself (my friends, relations, my country, future plans, what I like doing, how my peers, friends, and my family would describe me and more).

I really think that my interview went great, but it was really different from my previous interviews ( he really asked specific details about myself and my EC).
We barely talked about academic stuff and a little bit about Harvard (I did mention why I wanted to study there and the different activities and projects that I am interested in).
Also, I asked him various questions about Harvard and about him.

At the end, he was really amicable and I barely used any of the answers that I had rehearsed for.

Just be yourself and remain confident.

Thanks for sharing your experience and tips

Have those of you applying from the limited countries been offered interviews? If so, where are you applying from and when did you get the email?

@19972015yay I am from one of those countries and I got the email like 2 weeks ago

My country is not listed, so I don’t think there’s anything to it. Right? Right?

Where are you from?

@Jr12317 Africa (I assume you’re talking to me lol).

Yeah, @infinityman. Which part of Africa to be specifically?

@Jr12317 I contacted them and they said it wouldn’t adversely affect my application to not be interviewed (they actually quoted what’s written on their webpage verbatim) so it’s all cool. Oh, and I’m Sudanese by the way

Good luck then!!! @infinityman.
