Harvard interview

How many applicants to Harvard from India got an interview? Does anyone know

Almost everyone!

They try & give every applicant an Interview.

No^ not everyone gets an interview from Harv. It really depends on your application and if they are interested in you

Umm North…I really don’t know about Harvard(or most of ivies) but I do know that selective application interviews are given on the basis of the school you go to…not their need!!

Has anyone here had his/her Harvard interview?

^ I think Harvard starts to give interview calls in early March!!

And Yes, NOT every applicant gets an interview call from Harvard!!

LOL… My friend got his Harvard interview 2 weeks after he submitted his application!! And I can assure you - he is not a “TOP” candidate!!

All Ivies blatantly state on their websites that Interviews are only informational(except for certain majors) and they try to provide most applicants with an Interview!!
For a fact, Princeton interviews 98% of it’s applicant pool.

How much the interview counts - that depends from school to school!!

^ I think it doesnt hold true for H.
Every admitted Indian student in the past HAS had an interview. In March that is.

An interview in march, hmm. Isn’t that too close to decisions time?

@guyinblue - I think you’ve got wrong info.
Applications are read beginning mid-Feb and end somewhere around mid-March. An interview in March would be a tad-bit too late!!

Though what they might do is have an interview of sorts just to make sure that the applicant they are accepting is actually “Harvard” material!!

But frankly, even though I’m just another applicant, I doubt Harvard has Interviews in March!!

And how do you know that EVERY admitted Indian student has had an interview???

I had an interview a week ago

Rishav - Its early March i believe. CC is my source of knowledge.

Apart from it, I happen to know two current Harvard students, one from Mumbai and another from Delhi IRL, and both got interviews in early March.
So that is just a deduction that I made from the available situations. :)

@guyinblue - Maybe. Maybe not!! I didn’t apply to Harvard, so I haven’t researched on the significance of a H interview!! Haha!! But from what my friend tells me, an interview doesn’t mean acceptance and no interview doesn’t imply a rejection.

@guyinblue Interviews start in early December for RD. My Harvard interview was during the Christmas week (~27th Dec. 2012). The deadline for submitting interview reports is March 1st (or was it Feb 15), so a March interview isn’t really possible.

Well, I applied to Harvard. And I still haven’t had an interview. So not EVERYONE gets an interview… Probably the applications they’re interested in.

I don’t know. Probably just randomly chosen. I didn’t get interviewed for Duke, NU, Columbia and Dartmouth.

You may get an interview and still be rejected, but there’s no way you can get in without being interviewed.

Nope^ there are people who have got in without interviews, from India.

@xNorth is right, interviews just add a personal touch to your application but are largely insignificant if someone else is marginally better than you.
