Not true. I do not know from where you obtained this information.

UsuallyLurking:

I am from NYC, had no interview, and was still accepted. My point is that if you got an interview, great, but if you didn't get one, you still have a chance.

Bnx:

I remember the 200-300 range from calls last year to the admissions office. I believe you may be able to confirm this range by searching for other Harvard Transfer forums from last year.

Transfer 1O1

Transfer 101, did you apply for freshman admissions before your transfer application? Do you know people that did?

Thank you so much for the information, Transfer 101.

I know what thread you are referring to, but that thread confused me because people all stated varying numbers-- from 200 to 90 to 20.

Hanna said in the the same - between 200 and 300.

mr_sanguine:

There is a good mix. Some were rejected for freshman admission, though some didn't apply. Several were even accepted for freshman admission, went elsewhere, but then decided they actually did want to attend Harvard. Others were rejected when they applied for transfer as college freshmen but were accepted when they applied as sophomores.

I would say that a plurality of people accepted did apply for freshman admission when they were high school seniors, were rejected, and transferred when in college.

Also, nspeds is correct that there was not 100% yield. The process works like this: 75 acceptances are sent in late May and acceptees are given until late June or so to decide (though I probably mailed my decision out the next day). Usually a few people choose another school or decided to stay put, and so some people are taken off of the waitlist. I know of at least 5-10 who got in this way.

I'm sorry to say this, but as a friendly warning this process may take until late June (if you are waitlisted).

Transfer 1O1

hmm thanks for the info. Of those that applied for freshman admissions (and were presumably interviewed then), were they reinterviewed for transfer?

I applied for freshman admissions but was not reinterviewed for transfer, though I know people who were reinterviewed.

i also received a request for an interview... not sure what to expect, but am looking forward to it nonetheless. does anyone have additional advice? any input would be greatly appreciated! thanks :)

when someone gets back from their interview, will you tell us what they asked you about? i'm hoping i didn't get an interview because my why harvard essay was 4 and a half single spaced pages long and they don't really need to know any more about why i want to go to harvard.

My interviewer has not contacted me yet. I received the email from the admissions office on Friday, but I guess it is kind of late to schedule anything now, so I won't be able to help you For Shaganov.

atanas_vs,

do you live in DC area? cause i haven't been contacted either...why do you think it is late?

My university is located in Evanston, IL, which is 30 minutes away from downtown Chicago. I think it is late, since there are three more weeks for them to make the decisions. The person has to contact me, then we have to schedule the interview and then he has to write and send the report. My guess is that the decision might be taken by then, but I do not know how the admissions office work.
I contacted the admissions office and they gave me the coordinates of my interviewer, but I decided not to call and be rude. If the person has time, he'll call. Hopefully it's the right thing to do. But, you can call the office and then call your interviewer if you do not approve of my strategy.

atanas_vs,

come on dude..office gave me the contact info of the alumni who assigns interview in DC area...i emailed her and will call her if she doesnt answer..dont know how it works...might be rude as you said...anyway...i am doing what i was told to do
good luck

I'll just wait. I mean, the person has my contact info, if he is available he knows how to reach me. If not, calling him would not boost my chances...

I just had my interview. I think it went really well. It was really relaxed, and both my interviewer and I seemed to have a good amount in common, which made conversation fairly easy. Good luck everyone! Don't stress out too much. Let me know if you have any questions.

good job, bnx86 :)

Hey, what did the e-mail that requested an interview say? I never received one. My interviewer just contacted me directly.

Has anyone tried to login on the "admitted students" page with their login info for the status check? It says that it asks for the same number. I wonder when this will be activated for admitted students, or if those admitted can already login...

What do you mean by saying the admitted students page?

http://www.admissions.college.harvard.edu/admitted/login.cgi

Give it a shot, everyone.
