adriana, you could always slip one into your purse or bag. If you find out they would like to see it, then you're prepared. If not, then oh well, they'll never be able to tell that you had it.

Unless your interview is at the admissions officie with an officer, interviewers will never have a copy of your application. That whole thing about them having a copy of your application was a rumor. In most cases, your alumni interviewer won't know anything about you, so it would be unwise not to bring a resume. If you have more questions about it, I suggest you PM Northstarmom. She frequently posts on CC and she is, herself, a Harvard alumni interviewer and will be able to answer your questions. She gives really good advice.

wow, how ridiculous. i just clicked on my junk mail link in my email and in between emails from a bunch of random clubs from my school and John Edwards was one from HARVARD COLLEGE TRANSFER ADMISSIONS. This is what it said, if this helps clear anything up for anyone--

ear Transfer Applicant,

In passing your file along for the normal reading process, the Committee on Transfer Admissions has requested that you be included in a small number of alumni interviews that will be done for the 2006-2007 admissions cycle. To that affect, you will be contacted by one of our alumni in the vicinity of your current college or university. They will then suggest a mutually agreeable day, time, and meeting place. Due to a very short turn-around period for these interviews to take place, we ask that you call the Transfer Admissions Office at 617-495-5309 if you have not been contacted by Monday, April 24. If you are unable to coordinate an interview within the time allotted, please note that your admissions file will not be at any disadvantage. Final decisions for all Transfer applicants will be rendered in mid-late May.

Best wishes for your Spring term!

I especially like the part about mid-late May instead of... June 1. So nervous for tomorrow, I'm googling 'commonly asked college interview questions.' I can't believe how badly I wanted one of these and how scared I am now that I have one.

Ok, I'll stop....

Shag, what was your high school gpa?

I don't real know, not very good, I think it ended up being a 3.43 unweighted, but I had an upward trend, a 3.9 senior year. My high school was sort of intense, though, so that might have helped? Mat, you applied to Gtown too, right?

Wow, cool. You must be a very personable and interesting person given that your record doesn't scream elitism. Yup, I applied to SFS, you?

Thanks! I'm still nervous about my interview, but I keep telling myself I'm personable and interesting to try and calm myself down...
I applied to the College at Georgetown. I'm going to DC this weekend for a Darfur conference, what do you think about the probability of a success for a break in to the admissions office late at night to rifle through the transfer files? I'd look for yours... I'm dying here....

Hahahaha yeah, let's do it.

For Shag, I take it that you're going to the STAND rally on the National Mall?

I'll be there, too! :) (And so should everyone else! This Sunday, 2-4:30)

yes I am! i forget, janel, where do you go to school?

I go to UMass. I'm not part of STAND officially; but I'm the AI coordinator at my school (we've done a lot of Darfur work this year). A STAND member that I know from Amherst College asked me to come along.

See you there!

wait a minute, last question, but does anyone know if these are new numbers on collegeboard- 964 applicants, 85 admits? I thought it was 75? Or is this just collegeboard being wrong again?

The number given to me directly from a Harvard admissions officer is 79.

hey thanks for the advice! I'll definitely PM northstarmom. :)
i'm now a little confused because my interviewer said that he has a copy of my application. However, living outside the US, i am not being interviewed directly at the admissions office. is there a difference bw/ int'l and US interviewers? or perhaps they want to back up something that's on my application?
anyway, the interviewer sounds incredibly nice... looking forward to it.

i should have done harvard instead of Duke and Brown (wasted apps...completely)

nspeds-- 79 is the number you were given for this year or last year?

This number is for last year. I was given it over the telephone in the summer of 2005, and while I was at Byerly in November.

June 1? Naah. Decisions are usually made by May 15 (or by the end of the week of May 15) and are sent out by May 18-19 or so.

Kind of off topic, but does having gone to Harvard summer school make a difference?

It could make a difference, but not in the way you think. It is a great source of material for your Harvard essays, and a great way to build a relationship with professors such that they can write you recommendations for your application.
