Anyone heard of it? Is it worth participating in and is it really competitive? Would it be any real achievement getting an award there?

bump, any comments anyone?

Harvard Model UN is a great treat to go to, even if you don’t get an award. It’s up there in the big leageus of Model UN along with NAIMUN, NHSMUN and Berkeley Model UN.

If you get an award, however, that will look nice on your application to Harvard.
The thing with that, though, is that it will look nicer if MUN has been an activity that you’ve engaged in for a few years… not just something that you randomly picked up just to fill your resume. So in that sense, if you’ve never really done MUN before, then it probably won’t be that impressive to the AdComm.

I did Model UN for my entire high school career, and was the founder of my Model UN team at school, so if you have any more questions, let me know. I am currently on Harvard’s extended Wait-List and crossing my fingers, but if I get in I’m definitely going to join their International Affairs Society – and I would encourage everyone thats coming in as a Freshman to give it some serious consideration, as well.

Wow that is a great thing! Any and all other opinions appreciated! I pmed u mforero btw and good luck on your waitlist. I hope you get in!

It’s a great time. I don’t know if it’s necessarily a huge admissions factor, but it’s a ton of fun, a good way to meet people, and a genuine learning experience.
