<p>My brother (c/o 2016) didn’t write one, he just sent in the Common App. One of the reasons he applied to Harvard was because they didn’t require anything extra. It was an “oh why the heck not, there’s no extra effort” type of decision, and he never expected to get in, yet there he is! :D</p>
<p>So, if you’re wondering if NOT writing one will hurt your chances, here’s proof that it won’t. Thought, I’m sure it can help if you do!</p>
<p>That’s always reassuring! However, I don’t doubt that your brother either wrote an amazing common app essay or had something fantastic going for him :D.</p>
