Harvard or Dartmouth ?

Your thoughts please......

Glad to see you took my suggestion. :) This should be interesting.

Harvard!

The $30000000000 endowment
The first ever in the US (oldest)
reguarly voted worlds best university overall.
Boston nearby
relatively pretty architecture
With Oxford and Cambridge the worlds most famous (I am British, and trust me virtually nobody has heard of Dartmouth Here!)

I would say Harvard because it is probably on a higher level than Dartmouth (although it isn't THAT much better). I would think the decision would come down to the environment you would prefer-urban or rural. Dartmouth is in the wilderness of New Hampshire (very beautiful), while Harvard is across the bridge from Boston.

Both are obviously two of the best schools in the country, and whatever one you choose will turn out great.

If you don't even try for Harvard you will probably end up regretting it when you get to your other choices, simply for the opportunity you may have had, but otherwise I think it's really down to your gut feeling about the two places, and which environment you feel would suit you better, so a visit would be really helpful. Also, minor point, I prefer the architecture at Dartmouth.. the buildings in Harvard look really weird.

Harvard .... mainly cause dartmourth is in a rural area

I would have applied to Dartmouth, but the music program reputably "stinks." Otherwise, biology excellent, campus very pretty, and competition less cutthroat than @ the big H.

Dartmouth would be more fun (ANIMAL HOUSE!!!!), it is nicer asthetically, and you could get an interview in whatever profession you wanted to go into from either school. The quality of undergrad education would be about equal, but a H undergrad degree would give you a legs-up in the H grad schools. I agree w/ Merlin, it depends on if you want a rural or urban experience, but the weather sucks in both places :)

In terms of student types, D probably has more 'normal' all-american students, whereas H has more quirky students. H students are more competitive.

If you are asking from the perspective as a potential applicant, D would be easier to get into. If you are asking from perspective as a double-admit, you can't go wrong with either of them. I would go w/ H, but only because the rural thing isn't for me.

Same here, I'd also choose Harvard over Dartmouth because of the urban vs. rural factor.

i would say darmouth

dartmouth wins

Hahvahd oh Dahtmith? Ah'd choose Hahvahd

Yale, of course.

nah, Brown.
