In the new USNEWS rankings, Harvard ranks second to Princeton University. Here's a link to another thread with more information:

those are more than likely fake...just wait two days until the real rankings come out and then we can all talk a/b them. this is just wasting forum space.

It's doubtful. From seeing the blurry pics, they look fairly accurate and non-photoshopped; also:

the cover is the same.

Yeah, I really am telling the truth. But just wait a couple of days... or read some of the thread (there's a lot of info that shows that I do have the rankings).

No, calidan, you must be lying, because Harvard has never coughafewyearsagocough been ranked below #1.

Haha... good one. :)

It's harder to justify Princeton at the top than any of HYS.

I see no problem with Harvard being #2...happens occassionally. But I still doubt those rankings since he got them from a guy who got them from a guy who knows a guy's sister who has a dentist whose grandmother went to Barnes & Noble and accidentally purchased an early copy, and then read the list over the phone...and she doesn't even have that great of vision.

Just wait two days...

I just bought the magazine at barnes and noble. The rankings posted by Calidan are absolutely correct.

yes, they are true. i can't believe harvard dropped to 2.

Oh noes!!!1

Harvard is still Harvard, even if it is #2 in the U.S. News Rankings. Most people who seek admission to Harvard College apply because of the amazing opportunities, vast resources, unmatched student body, and overall great college experience.

Translation: They will seek admission cause their uncle Bob in Wyoming knows of it.

(Sorry you were just asking for it..and no offense to my Wyoming brethren) :)

Uncle Bob hasn't heard of Princeton?

No he has...just that he knows that as the place where kids who don't get into Harvard and Yale go to ;).

Uncle Bob hasn't heard of Princeton?

I would think that Harvard is much more popular than Princeton.

oh really, zeph? i'd be interested in hearing your case for stanford, since you know that one best. i think you'll find it a difficult one to make, however, since princeton has equal or better numbers in 17 of the 19 columns in u.s. news. (the other two columns are % of full-time faculty and the dubious "financial resources rank," where despite leading all universities in endowment per capita and all but harvard in faculty salaries, princeton ranks 12th.) in addition, as you know, princeton enrolls more national merit scholars than stanford and sends more of its graduates to top professional schools, despite not having such schools to feed its grads into.

f.scottie,

You can make a case for dubiousness of all columns from these rankings. ;)

Id go ahead and say that f.scottie just dropped some major knowledge lol...

I personally feel that this year's list, despite still disagreeing with the entire methodology, comes closer than ever to truly ranking the best colleges in this country...

Wow hm.
Though Harvard is still the most popular and widely-known.
