Some kids from my school are getting interview requests already but not me
I wonder if some who do not get the interview request aren’t located near any interviewers? My S20 had one, but we’re located by a big city where there are likely a lot of alumni.
My DS is still waiting for an interview request. He submitted his application in the due day. I heard there’re 3 kids from a neighboring school district already accepted in EA. So availability of alumni should be not be an issue. Anyone is in the same boat?
I still haven’t received an interview request and I submitted a week before the due date.
Neither have I! Most of my classmates have already interviewed for those who applied RD. I heard that Harvard interviews will stretch until early February according to a former interviewer.
Docs from the Asian lawsuit against Harvard show that Harvard prioritizes interviews. It assigns Interview Profile Numbers (IVP) to all apps:
1 - need interview report as soon as possible
2 - need interview report by subcommittee deadline
3 - need interview report by March 1 [for RD]
4 - based on materials no further information is needed [no interview]
The Harvard interview threads here on CC and other forums show pretty convincingly that no one gets in without an interview unless an interview is not possible.
How important is the mid year report? I’ve never dipped below 90, but AP Lit isn’t going great for me right now and I’m concerned a B might change how the AO thinks of me
DS finally got an interview request last week. He applied Dec 22.
@styrax congrates! My DS is still waiting for an interview request. Hopefully he will get one next week.
Hey! I can see this on my portal:
“In your country, we may either not have any interviewers or the number of applicants may be too great for all to be interviewed. You will be contacted if the Admissions Committee requests more information. The absence of an interview will not adversely affect your candidacy.”
Does this mean that I’m not getting an interview?
Hi all,
My counselor recently sent out my mid-year report to all of the schools that I applied to. On most portals, the mid-year report box is checked, but this is not the case for Harvard. Is anyone else experiencing this? If so, do you know when that box will be checked on my portal? Thanks!
Did you apply using commonapp? if so, your counselor should have uploaded via commonapp and you can verify via commonapp. Once you can verify via common app that the report was downloaded, then you can relax Harvard has the report.
Based on the data from the previous years, what’s the latest date you get an interview request for RD?
DD applied RD and had an interview. She only took one SAT II (math 2, 800). The cost was not a factor, she just never took a second subject test. Do you think it will be a game-changer, she has a 35 ACT? She is a legacy but didn’t apply SCEA so the legacy status won’t count. Did everyone here submit 2 or more subject tests?
I didn’t submit any subject tests.
I’ve read of interview requests as late as late February/early March, but some think those could be related to Harvard developing its wait list.
@PuppyM Thank you for the info.
Has any international applicant got an interview from Harvard? Especially those living in Asia ( Such as China) ?
I heard that Harvard’s alumni interview in China is extremely selective. Only a very small percent of applicants (who are really excellent) will get the interview. Is that true?
DS had Harvard interview yesterday and he thought it went well. He was surprised that his interviewer asked him for his gpa, SAT and subject test scores. She said that she needed it for her academic strength report.
@styrax My Harvard interviewer asked me to bring a resume. I did, and I’m glad I did, as it guided our conversation and he said it would help with his report.
