Harvard RD Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

@Mjag1898 I have heard that likely letters will be sent out throughout February and into March, but that is speculation.

@vibrantviolet Do international students get likely letters as well?

@pnguon Hm good question; I honestly have no clue.

Yes they do. It all depends on several factors. I know applicants in England who have already received likely letters for RD.

@pnguon Yes, they do. A senior from my school got admitted with a likely letter last year

That is correct. However, I should point out that the vast majority of accepted applicants will not receive a LL, so don’t spend much time thinking about it.

Anyone willing to read my essays?

I got a skype interview request… Does this mean anything?

^^ Where do you live? Are you international?

Yes somewhere in sub saharan africa

@Livingteen1209 Virtual or in person, many schools are extremely comfortable using either. It means no more or no less than if a person wanted to meet you in the nearby cafe.

So I took the SATII in January for the first time and got a 780 on chem and 760 on Math II (I know I messed up). Should I send my scores as something supplementary to my application? Or would it be weird to send in just the chemistry score? I used ACT as the required standardized test score (34 composite, 35 Math, and 33 on everything else)

@aspenz I think the 760 Math II is a bit weak to send; however, typically people send two or none. Look for guidance on the website

Ya I’d love to read them! DM me and I’ll give u my email address

Hey guys, what do you think about sending 680 on Lit?

Also, guys,

it’s okay to send a message to the admissions committee asking whether, by any chance, I could be informed of whether or not all applicants in a specific region would be offered alumni interviews, right? Please tell me your opinion.

@Livingteen1209 is your country listed here https://college.harvard.edu/admissions/application-process/what-we-look/interviews?

I personally wouldnt sent a sub-700 score, but I’ve heard that Lit has a harsher curve, so 680 might just be acceptable

@lamont20

The answer is irrelevant. Yes or no, this is Harvard’s wish. But logistically unlikely. Plus, no one besides the actual local director knows if “everyone” has been contacted.

At this late date, if you’ve not been contacted, just know then that by luck of the draw, you’re not going to be interviewed. I interview for another peer school. Our region interviewed 2/3 of applicants, all randomly selected.
