[] Rank: 1/379
[] Other stats: 5's on US History, Calc AB, Euro Hist, Chemistry, English Lang, and US Gov
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: the common app essay was decent, but the common app short answer was pretty good. The supplement essay was in my opinion excellent
[] Teacher Recs: never saw them
[] Counselor Rec: never saw it
[] Hook (if any): first generation, low income, second person from my school to go to Harvard
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Michigan
[] School Type: public
[] Ethnicity: Asian
[] Gender: male
[] major strength/weakness: good ECs, interview, essays, hooks, but probably not outstanding ECs (nothing national or even state)
[li] why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: I think it was essays[/li][/ul]Other Factors: I had a very good interview. It was also my first and only interview, so it was a good thing I didn't mess it up!

CONGRATS NICK!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe i stand a chance afterall at princeton, even though i was rejected at D'mouth, cornell, and duke!

Well, this was utterly predictable. . .

Decision: Rejected

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Eh, definitely nothing special compared to others, especially other Harvard applicants.
[] Teacher Recs: Not sure, waived my right to see it
[] Counselor Rec: Ditto
[] Interview: I think it went very well. We talked for an hour and a half, and I was very prepared for it.
[] Hook (if any): If I had a hook, it'd be research - I was a semifinalist in Siemens Westinghouse and Intel STS, amongst other things. Also, I'm a president of 3 different clubs in my school, including National Honor Society.
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: New York
[] School Type: Suburban Public
[] Ethnicity: Caucasian
[] Gender: Male
[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: Probably because my standardized scores are likely subpar compared to others, and so are my essays. Also, I'll be as tactful as possible and just say that I am at the wrong end of affirmative action here, instead of going into a tirade about it. Still, who can honestly tell what they were looking for?
[/ul]

Rejected! Too unhappy to post stats right now though :(

Accepted, I've posted my stats way too many times to do it again. Congratulations to everyone who got what they wanted. Good luck to those who didn't end up at Harvard if that was their first choice. I'll be wearing Green, not Crimson, next year so somebody will come in off the waitlist in my place. Good luck who ever you are.

Decision: ACCEPTED

[] State or Country: NY
[] School Type: private
[] Ethnicity: african american/black (jamaican W.I. background)
[] Gender: F
[] major strength/weakness: fabulous interview
[li] why you think you were accepted: well-rounded, yet concentrated... if that makes any sense[/li][/ul]Other Factors: Yale Summer Program 2004, 2 courses for credit, received A- in both courses... and the rest of my resume

hehe, I was rejected, but I don't really care because I got into Yale. :)

My stats are over on Yale's board, and I'm too lazy to go get them now.

"CC Harvard acceptance is over 50%"

That's because of selection bias in the poll: The accepted students are far more likely to respond than would the many CC members who were rejected. These include members who simply lurk or who have never posted that they applied to Harvard.

Northstarmom is right. Those who get accepted are more likely to respond. Those rejected or waitlisted will be less inclined to respond.

*Decision: ACCEPTED!!!!! *

Subjective:

* Essays: My AP. Eng. Lang. teacher I had look over them told me my personality really shined through in the essays and that they were beautifully woven together.....apparently not.
* Teacher Recs: Only read one of them which was mediocre
* Counselor Rec: Nothing special
* Interview: My interview went ok...it wasn't the best. I felt uncomfortable though and I'm sure that was apparent.
* Hook (if any): If I had a hook it'd be my research which I've been doing for multiple years. I'm a qualifier for Intel ISEF this May in Phoenix. I also joined the speech and debate team this year and have won numerous awards in my first year.

Location/Person:

* State or Country: Florida
* School Type: Public
* Ethnicity: Asian
* Gender: Male
* Why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: I don't really know why I was rejected. I kept sending in information and awards as I received them, but I guess it's because nothing I did was considered to be spectacular...oh that and I hate being asian.
