harvard reception in december

is there an admitted students reception in december after EA comes out?

My friend had an interview today, and the interviewer said he hopes to see my friend at the harvard reception in december in her local area.

what does that mean? what is the harvard reception in december?

Any reception is up to the alum volunteers on the local schools committee and to any local Harvard club.

but would this reception be for newly accepted students in december in the local area?

where are you from? it depends on the Harvard club, but yeah. If you want to PM me and tell me where you two live, I can give you more info.

So if someone is not invited to the reception, that means they have lower chances to get in ?

hahah, no. Some regions typically have receptions for all EA admits. The Harvard club will not discriminate against any admits in its invitations; all are invited. So, a verbal invite is just another way of saying that the interviewer hopes you are admitted.

I wouldn't worry about the reception business. That's a long time from now. December 15 has to come first.

Sounds like the interviewer was just making a polite closing comment.

Don't read anything into getting or not getting such a comment.

In Atlanta, the reception is for both accepted EA and prospective RD candidates. It's a recruiting pitch (and great lunch); most of last year's attendees were anticipating applying RD.
