I sent a few updates to Harvard this past weekend, and received two confirmation of receipt emails today. If they bother to respond to these emails so close to the 28th, does that mean the admissions committee is on the wire about my decision and still considering new updates?

No. It means they are polite. Decisions have been made.

@T26E4 Harvard actually makes decisions the day before decisions are sent out.

However, the chance that the updates drastically rendered the OP’s fate is slim – unless the updates consisted of groundbreaking achievements such as qualifying for USAMO.

^^ That said, everyone who sends Harvard an update gets a confirmation email.

What!? I didn’t know this… I’ve been sending all these colleges various updates, and never heard from them. Does that mean they didn’t get any of the updates?

If you send Harvard an email update, you will receive an automated reply. (Sometimes, if you are lucky, you will get a personal reply.) As far as I know, Harvard does not confirm updates sent by fax or post, so you just have to assume they received the updates. Not sure what happens at other schools.

Ah OK, that clears some things up. I sent Harvard updates by fax.

I never got a reply to my email update :(

^^ Then something went wrong.
