@aharper98 As far as the arts supplement goes, it is sent for evaluation and then the comments are sent in for the admissions counselors to add to the application. You do make a good point, though–how are the students who send in extra stuff considered in the regional adcoms?
@RandomRhino I feel like admissions is like a speech tournament, it can either go really well…or REALLY bad. On the bright side, I get input for each round in speech But I agree with you, I wish I got to see how my application fared with adcom.
Who else is going to do homework and college essays right now (in tears)?
@snackpack02 I have to do a calculus packet, and instead of doing that…I’m here. CC is considered being productive, right?
@aharper98 do you think I should ask her to email the adcom? I think it might be too late to snail-mail it now…
@RandomRhino @schroscat // Once you are matriculated you can view your whole application file w/ comments.
@snackpack02 Me. Cal Berkeley is due tomorrow and WF is due soon if I want scholarships. Shoot me.
@schroscat Procrastinating on a huuuuge paper that’s due next Tuesday. Oops!
@aharper98 Wait, really? If I’m lucky enough to attend I’d love more than many things to be able to see it! How does one go about doing that?
@aharper98 Sweet! Thanks!
@RandomRhino I was so productive yesterday afternoon with doing my homework…until I decided to make a CC account. I swear, I’ve learned more on this site than I have doing my chemistry and calculus homework. (Okay…maybe not, but you get my point.) Oops!
I think this is going to be a repeat of the days leading to the AP Euro exam; I decided to scroll through the AP Euro discussions on Twitter–ended up meeting someone thousands of miles away from me–and wrote a novella about a Stalin/Hitler/Mussolini friendship with him.
@gracie21 What are you referring to? Sorry, got lost in conversation!
@RandomRhino I saw an article somewhere that said you can request it!
@aharper98 oh i just meant the supplementary rec… I’ll probably call tomorrow and ask if I should mail it or email it
@aharper98 @RandomRhino If we’re accepted, catch us on the first day of school in admissions begging for our comments. I’ll volunteer to bring cupcakes to bribe–persuade–them.
@schroscat I will bring the cash envelopes
@snackpack02 Do you think if I bring my cat they’ll be more likely to rush ship our comments? His name is Schrödinger, so I’m assuming the cat will be nerdy enough for them.
@schroscat @snackpack02 And I’ll bring the ropes that we’ll use to chain ourselves to the admissions office doors if they say no
@RandomRhino See, that’s a great idea, but who is going to bring us coffee when we get tired? Hmm…THE CAT WILL!
@gracie21 definitley call and ask. It may be as simple as uploading it to the Applicant portal. OR, they may want you to just have said person mail it with a seal. Not sure.
Just out of curiousity – what’s everyone’s “hook.”
@schroscat bring the cat. Even if it doesn’t have any effect, we will have another companion with us during the wait
@aharper98 computer science, and where I was born. URM and essays/ECs
@aharper98 URM, First-gen college student, First-gen American, bilingual, dual-citizen, female seeking a career in medicine, I would consider my personal essay to be a hook
@snackpack02 He’s a really friendly fellow and I’m sure he will aid us in our endeavors. Maybe he’ll being us some food if we barter food for treats.
