Where’s the passion? I have no feeling for you from anything you have said. It appears very much as if you are a unidimensional student who is trying to get into the most selective universities with numbers. They have literally thousands of applicants with better scores than yours, as well as extensive activities that at least give some idea of what their interests are. You need to distinguish yourself.
Why do your teachers love you?
How did you become a school government “captain” and why?
What kind of engineering do you want and why?
BldrDad already asked why Harvard as opposed to MIT, for example?
1-Teachers love me since i am the brightest student of the class.
2-I have been the topper in school for last 5 semesters and i have leadership quality this is why they made me school government captain.
3-I love electrical engineering
4-I have personal interest in seas because i am very inspired by professor donee ham of harvard.
Thanks for the advise.I am going to post only three ecs in my common app
1-Engineering internship for 6 months at mindstick pvt ltd.
2-School Government captain
3-Completed a course in photography from nikon school of photography
You should try to bump up your act one more time and try to describe how much you love your EC’s! Havard is so hard to decipher. Good luck with your application!
Ok, Let me give you a honest analysis… You are from India and I am a NRI too…
These top universities like International students like you and kids like you are brilliant so they want the best of the best…I can say grades earned in India are different from grades here in the US. They are weighed differently, my mom say it’s different in India(Harder, more memorization)… That being said you are #1 in class rank so that’s good too and your ACT score is great…Based on my experience, you have a decent-good chance of being admitted… Mind you will be compared to other International Students too but I think you can do it… Good luck!!

While your stats looks very good, I think you would have more chances to MIT than Harvard. MIT is one of those universities who focus over STEM, so you may or may not have higher chances of acceptance. @go4harvard Your stats reveals that you’re a scholar of all subjects but not specific for electrical engineering. Being an indian International applicant, if you specify a particular major you’re interested in, you need to show them your passion and zeal for the subject not just nominating them. Let’s say there are 120 places in electrical engineering in SEAS,
Why they should consider you?
Apart from SEAS, how will you add value to Harvard experience?
How will Harvard benefit from you?
Why electrical engineering, any past achievements to demonstrate?
When they select international applicant and specially from countries like India and China where competition is extremely high, they will better invest in student who are promising and can be expected to add value to Harvard experience and become a value ambassador to Harvard. Admissions to these reach colleges is always a dual business, and if they find profit in admitting you, they will accept (20% get accepted below 1900 on SAT) and I strongly believe that’s where your essay and ECs play a major role.
@intellectboy. Since you are new to CC please know that old threads are for information purposes only. You should not revive them by posting comments on them. OP posted this over a year ago and has likely submitted their applications and doesn’t need your advice anymore.
