Harvard Sports?

If you go to the College Swimming web site and look at Ivy Finals you can get a sense of the times in your events and how Harvard stacks up in them. Although Steph’s program isn’t “scholarship” based–most girls are recruited and the team does 2x/day work outs with considerable off season work and dry land. That being said, it is a great program, and while Blodgett needs a make over (actually Harvard could use a third pool complex after the MAC and Blodgett) it is a good place to swim–look at the names on the Pool’s record board. Good luck and I hope you make the team.

PS-- as someone who was involved with bringing back polo–I can tell you it is not snobby/preppy. Indeed, Tommy Lee Jones has more to do with getting the program back than anyone–and in the past few years has had the team down to his Texas ranch for practices during term breaks. The major pain, is that the team plays in Hamilton, MA which is a long hike. It would be great if they built a facility in Allston, but don’t hold your breath–a third pool is more likely…

Note that these guys, while not classically preppy by any means, all now go to the hyper-classically preppy Valley Forge Military Academy, and the senior among them was accepted at Cornell ED. But that was a consequence of their polo skills, not its source. When they started playing, they were public-school kids from the block.
