Harvard SSP application

those of you who are applying for the harvard summer program 2005, where on earth do you get the application? i've been looking online (the SSP main-page) for hours and i still can't find the application form!! is it not uploaded yet? or is it just that i can't find it?!?! pleeeez help me find it...anyone.

try this:
http://www.ssp.harvard.edu/2005/admission/apply.jsp
there's little one-word hyperlinks at the top
you can either do it online or download it as a pdf and then fill it out

They sent me a catalogue, and then one more, and then one more again. I got three same catalogues already, they are crazy, don't they? you can get one, if you request one, I think you should able to apply on- line.

oooooh, thanx guys,
navy_blue and Fallinwater0328 both of you...
i should start applying for that thing..good luck to ya'all lol

note to everyone: ssp is quiet expensive...I stupidly applied before looking at the cost (thinking it would be reasonable) and then was extremely suprised by the high cost...

I sent in my application at the beginning of December. I think it would be a great experience, but I could never go if I didn't get some type of financial aid. So far the decision is between Harvard SSP, Summer Science Program, and Boston University's Summer Research Internship Program.

Anyone have any ideas about these programs?

omg, some of u sent the application in DECEMBER?
i was planning on sending it in march or something after i take the New SAT...
they need my SAT score, right? if i send it then, does that mean i have no chance at all? cuz it seems like 100000000 ppl are applying....ahhh i'm starting to panic..

I haven't even taken SATs yet lol. They said that if I sent my application in early, I wouldn't have to worry about sending SAT scores (and I would have a better chance for financial aid).

I really don't think its that hard to get in...there were three kids from my grade with around 1300's who went...and were only in the top 20%

I hear that the people who apply early get stuck in the Union dorms far from the Yard, so I don't think it's a big deal if you don't apply in December or something. If it's the same situation as last summer, they'll accept applications all the way up to June.

Have most of applicants attended this program or something else like it?

hey navy-blue, did u attend this program last year? and u got in when u sent in in june? that's quite impressive cuz one of my friends who got like 1500 on SAT didn't get in when she applied in march or something...

I did attend last year, but I didn't apply in June. I was one of those overzealous ones who sent in an app way early and stayed in Pennypacker, which is a good walk from the Science Center, Annenberg, Widener, etc. I do know someone from 2003 who applied in June and got in. Your friend seems to be an anomaly, since the general consensus is that SSP is just a program to generate money for H, not to attract a bunch of incredibly talented students. In my experience, most of the people there are decently intelligent but not amazingly brilliant.

And to answer suburbian's question: no, most applicants (or EA acceptees, for that matter) don't go to SSP just because there's a number of more selective programs out there. Don't be fooled into thinking that SSP gives you a leg up on the Harvard admissions process--it doesn't. SSP gives you two months of the Harvard experience (though some of the classes aren't taught by H professors)...for me, I wasn't sure that I wanted to go there, so I decided to spend the summer there just to make sure H was right for me. I had a great experience, but that definitely varies from student to student.

i got into governor's school...and if i get into this harvard SSP, i'm gonna have to choose b/t the two.....which is better, do you think?

Governor's school is better, if you dion't want to spend too much money. And I think it is even more impressive than Haravrd SSP.

I'm still thinking about SSP vs. Oxford. I'd love to go to Oxford and be in England... but SSP's academics are better.

SSP applicants: what courses are you thinking about?

Two architecture courses. And try to attend some seminars and discussions.
