Hi!
SSP is a nice experience and I’ve met wonderful people there that I’m still in contact with. However, 8 credits classes hardly allow any social activities so you should choose two 4 credits courses. If you’re a sophmore then wait a year because you have a lot of restrictions (curfew etc).
Also, be prepared for extreme heat and ugly dorms.

I also got accepted to SSP '13! I’m very excited about it and hope that it’ll live up to my expectations. I’m currently in the process of requesting housing and looking through the courses. Have you got any courses in mind (if you do go)?

I’m attending SSP too!

If you’re still considering SSP:

I was a student in SSP last year! It was arguably one of the best experiences of my life honestly. I met so many amazing people who are still some of my best friends and got to do so much! I took an 8-credit biology course, and it was really challenging (most of the workload was just independently studying the material so that we could be prepared for exams), but I still had time for a social life. Not nearly as much free time as the kids who took two 4-credit classes, but I don’t think my workload was overwhelming at all.

All-in-all, I’d say if you were accepted, go for it! And take classes you’re interested in and that will challenge you, since that’s essentially the main reason for going. Either way though it’ll be a fantastic experience!

I’m a girl from Turkey and I’m going this year. I’m pretty sure there will be plenty of girls haha.

I’m also a girl attending SSP!! I signed up for Calc II and Practical Japanese.

I’m a girl (Class of 2014) who signed up for Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra!

Last summer, I took Calculus I and Fundamentals of Astronomy. Astronomy was pretty easy, at least compared to Calculus I. I had a lot of fun, but near the end I really wanted to go home. Dorm life isn’t that great. BRING A FAN! Fans are a lot more helpful than you might think. You may also run into some problems if you like to sleep early. Dorm mates can be loud! If you’re a rising sophomore (Class of 2015), you’ll have a curfew, which is really annoying. On weekdays, you must check in at 9 or 11. On weekends, you must check in at 11:30 or 12:30.
Even if you’re a straight A student, don’t be surprised if your grades aren’t amazing. I got an A in Astronomy, but a C+ in Calculus. I thought I was great at math; I got a 99 in my high school trigonometry class without even working hard. It never occurred to me that I could struggle in math of all subjects. If you don’t get the grade you were hoping for, it’s okay!
