Harvard SSP

Hey guys, I got into the Harvard Summer School Program and was wondering if any of you guys are planning on going? Im not sure if im going or not. Do you guys have any suggestions. I was also considering going to Exeter summer program.

congrats for getting in. I’m applying too. Are you one of those freakishly insansely stat loaded ppl that you occasionally find on here? Tho I have heard its not that hard to get into… just wondering if I have a good shot; I know I qualify for need-based fin aid, but if I could get merit-aid thatd be even better- --- did you get any aid?

Don't worry lights_out I'm now genious, it seems that you will get in. Don't stress out. I wonder what it will be like? Anyone else apply for this summer or have been there?

lights_out, from what I've heard, summer schools typically aren't that competitive. I guess not many adolescents like going to school during their months off.

:P

I've sent in my application to the summer school program. Do any of you know how much it improves your chances of getting into Harvard?

Technically speaking it won't help much. But it will show colleges that you are interested in doing academic work over summer. What grade are all you guys/girls in?

Okay, quick update. Like I mentioned before I had gotten accepted and I just sent in for them to reserve a place for me there. So im def. going. Any one have views/experience with the program?

bump lol srry board

I knew someone that went last year and he had a good time with challenging classes.

hopefully i'll have a good time to, any other CC's apply or are going?

any CC people going to the open house, on March 4?

*bump

Come on no ones gonna be there next Saturday?

I'm applying... But I'm waiting until my January SAT score report is sent to my school before I ask my guidance counselor to fill out the chart and such. Oh, and the application doesn't require any rec letters, right? I thought it did, at first, but when I reread the instructions, it just said that teachers/guidance counselors are supposed to fill out the chart to the best of their abilities.

Now that I've seen this thread, I feel like I should get a start on the application.

demeter its not suppose to be a hard program to get into so don't stress much. I applied without SAT scores or PSAT (im a soph) and about the the rec thingys. The teacher and guidance counselors have little charts but there tiny questions on there as well.

man i am so procrastinating this ... do you happen to remember the deadline? its in like may, right? lol ive been putting this off for 3 months already. i suck. tennispro is the open house for ppl already accepted or what? let us know how it goes, ok?

The open house is for anyone who is interested in the program; both people who have been accepted and have not applied yet. The offical closing of the deadline is June 11th but I wouldn't wait that long.

I saw a poster in my school hallways of this program last Friday, and I love the program! Unfortunately, I dont think I will have much a chance this year to be accepted (Sophomore). I had a mediocre Freshmen year, I am getting mostly A's in sophomore year and in an AP class, but I also dont have many extracurriculars on my belt, not to mention I might have to ask for financial aid.

What do you guys think?

A-san trust me don't worry about it, I had a really bad freshman yr and a decent sopho yr (so far) and they let me in. And they don't ask about extracurriculars. Its expensive thought so that might be your only problem.

Yeah, you'll get in for sure. The financial aid would be a problem, though.

Yeah I think they prefer to give aid to juniors.
