Hey Im trying to think about my application for harvard and I wanted to see how my odds are looking :confused: (probably not good but eh what the heck)- I am applying early fyi

This year courses: dual enrollment at GA Tech for calculus, AP CS, AP Macro/Gov, AP Lit, and Advanced Ballet

Extra Curriculars
Dance Team- three years varsity, two letters (weā€™ve won tons of awards in the state level)

Choreographer for high school dance department(Iā€™ve choreographed a lot)

President National Dance Honor Society- organize drives and use dance to serve community ie we started a program to teach kids dance at our cluster elementary schools

State Funded Honors Program for Dance over the summer- state wide competition

1st place senior soloist at two state dance competitions
1st place choreography

Recipient of Dance Merit Scholarship

Iā€™ve danced for almost 14 years of my life and Iā€™ve tried classes in pretty much every style

Student leadership team- three students from each grade selected to aid principal, attend professional leadership sessions from renowned leadership presenters, and teach leadership to the student body. Arrange leadership summit for elementary school kids as well as lessons that we go to each school to teach.

President of School Leadership Club- creating leadership lessons

President of National Honor Society

Beta club- Lead outside the box competition national qualifier

DECA- 3rd place advertising campaign- national qualifier

I would say you have a very solid shot at admissions. I think it would necessarily come down to your essays, recommendations, and interviews. Assuming the latter two are strong enough, the largest question mark in my mind would be your essays.

I guess my one area that Iā€™m highlighting that may be a challengeā€“but also your opportunity-- is your focus on dance. I think it certainly adds ā€œinterestā€ to your application, but Iā€™d encourage you to write an essay that demonstrates your genuine intellectual curiosity. While your scores and grades certainly speak a bit to your academic facility, Iā€™d want to understand who you are and what compels you to want to study at Harvard, what kind of intellectual rigor would you bring to the community, and what personal qualities.
