Harvard students: where else did you apply.

In order of preference...I think...

Harvard (deferred EA)
UC Berkeley (Regent's ~ acceptance)
Stanford (awaiting) / UCLA (accepted)
UC Irvine (accepted)

Didn't apply to too many

Yale
UC Berkeley
Harvard
Princeton

just wondering, mutineer, is that order of preference?

i'm also not one to apply to many places.

in order of preference:

columbia
georgetown (school of foreign service)
harvard/wellesley (i'm not sure which one i liked more... harvard for anything social, but wellesley's an amazing place for women to go to school... and i refuse to believe that all the students there are rabid lesbian feminists).

i "got into" wellesley early evaluation (likely letter) and i probably won't get into harvard/columbia/georgetown.... so it looks like i know where i'll be.

i applied to many many schools.

harvard
stanford
brown
wesleyan
rice(deferred interim)
uc berkeley
williams
ucla (accepted, invite to honors, scholarship)
tufts
carleton (accepted)
boston university (accepted honors, university scholar)
ucsd (accepted)
whitman (accepted)
haverford (waitlisted)

Did you VISIT Haverford for an interview?

yeah there was my mistake. i was unable to visit. my parents only believe in visiting if i am accepted. i did get to visit many other schools on the east coast though because of a school trip. also, i assumed since interviews were optional, they would not matter much for haverford.

that what I thought too for washu and I got waitlisted :(

but, I did visit HYPBC (and I decided not to apply to columbia because of my visit)

You can be a Native American Intel winner with a 1,600 SAT and you will NOT get into Haverford if you don't visit.

Its virtually an iron-clad rule there.

quote

[/quote]

me too! sorry about washu. they're notorious for waitlisting tons of people.

wow, byerly. i had no idea. thanks for letting me know. i knew i should have asked my counselor to let me stop by haverford when we were visiting villanova. i guess it's too late now....

my visit was particularly bad. The admissions officer sounded very pretentious and tried to make Columbia sound like Harvard, which it ISNT(see byerly, I like Harvard:)) and then my tour guide was ditsy and didnt know the answer to any of my questions. In addition, when she showed us(the tour group) her room, she forgot to cover up the bong lying on her bed!(her roomate tried to cover it with a blanket but not before everybody had seen it). THen, when I walked around campus, I found the people to be unduly rude(and I lived in NYC)

the arrogance coupled with the rudeness was a big turnoff!

too bad, I could see myself going to school in the city

harvard (deferred EA)
MIT (accepted RD)
Williams (early write)
UC-Berkeley (Regents = acceptance)

waiting on:
Yale
Stanford
Columbia
Johns Hopkins

Perhaps you can argue that Columbia should exercise more quality control in this area, but really it is possible to have a poor tour at almost any school.

true, but mine was beyond the pale she forgot about her BONG

and also at the orientation session the admin officer was incredibly arrogant about their core curriculum. He basically bashed brown the entire time

I got into Harvard EA and withdrew my other apps, but this is where I had applied:
Amherst
Williams
Wellesley
Wesleyan
Vassar
Smith
Carleton
Kenyon
BYU

I like that u withdrawed ur apps, I dont like people who keep their apps in for prestige purposes

In order of preference:
Brown
Harvard
Penn
BU (Accepted RD)
BC
NYU (Accepted RD)
Wash U St. Louis (Waitlisted)

In the UK:
Cambridge (accepted)
Imperial (accepted)
Warwick (accepted)
UCL (accepted)
Bristol (accepted)
Edinburgh (accepted)

In the US:
Harvard (deferred)
Yale
Princeton
MIT (rejected)
Stanford
Caltech
Columbia
Williams
WashU (waitlisted)

Had the applications filled out for McGill, Toronto, and Waterloo in Canada, but then the Cambridge acceptance came and I decided not to bother sending them.

in no order of preference. I honestly don't have a first choice. And after being accepted EA to Yale, I pulled out all of my safeties and just went for schools/programs that I probably won't get into...

Yale- accepted EA
Harvard
GWU 7-yr med program
BU 7-yr med program
Brown PLME
