Whether this study is true or not is irrelevant. IQ only measures one part of intelligence. There is much more to someone’s intelligence than their IQ.

stressedout, the primary purpose of this paper was not to prove that Latinos have lower IQs than whites or anybody else. If you think so, you are misunderstanding and should read the abstract.

poetgrl, I was being sarcastic. You seem to have no, zero, zip, nope, negative, absolutely no, no by all means understanding of this dissertation whatsoever and at all. You probably only read the first five lines of the article that OP linked to. He does not try to imply some groups are better than others at all. You commentary on works of literature of which you have no understanding or knowledge astounds and surprises me. It would be like if I posted on a War and Peace book having only read the first line.

The prevailing mindset is that Richwine is wrong. Race IQ condemnations are notoriously common in politics and this case is no exception. Consider the Nazi policy makers arguing the supremacy of the Aryan race particularly against the sematic people. Again it doesn’t appear that Richwine did any original research and the selectiveness of the chosen research is self serving and ignores history. BTW the pursuit of truth is not all that matters. The pursuit must be run with honesty and integrity it cannot be chased with wild abandonment.

I’m sorry, sesomenza, but he is right. You are basing off your opinion off what other people who agree with you (eg people who haven’t read his dissertation carefully) while ignoring evidence of people who disagree (which is more common that you might assume), an exemplary example of the confirmation bias (AP Psych vocab word!). You have yet to produce a logical, coherent argument. Your only defense as of the current is saying “but… but news and media told me he was wrong!” (ironic considering how much you hate Fox News)

Richwine exemplifies the free-thinking academic, a politically incorrect intellectual who is vilified for being politically incorrect with mainstream beliefs. His story of his persecution for his guided intellectual pursuits (ie implying that low-IQ immigrants should not be allowed in such high numbers as they are now in the US) is an inspiring one; his naysayers can only degenerate into name-calling.

sosomenza, you are spewing so much BS that it’d be laughable if this weren’t a serious issue. I love how you only respond to people besides me.

Tomato–

I have several advanced degrees and I know how to read the literature. When you have read more widely and finished even your undergraduate degree, you can comment on my ability to understand the work in a dissertation. He is not widely accepted to be a free thinking academic. He is not considered to be an academic, at all, in fact.

Are you attending Harvard next year?

Okay, wait. I see you post in the high school class of 2017 thread.

I’m sorry I was so hard on you. You are young.

Ah, poetgrl. Intimidation. You must win arguments all the time. Please, educate me on how much better you are than everyone else. And you call me “racist.” Maximum hypocrisy.

I love how your “advanced degrees” fail to make you understand the basic principles behind this dissertation. You do not seem to understand what he is or I am saying at all.

You seem to be his sole defender, other than Michele Malkin.

That’s my brother. I don’t use this account much.

What is he saying? Please educate me with your “advanced degrees.”

No really, don’t take my word for it.

Look into it.

Nobody wants to defend this guy, and he is not finding any serious academic or other defenders. You are falling into a trap. and it’s a very ugly trap.

Tomatox1: You are ignorant as to the mating of poly sci, econ & statistics. I see from above that you have not yet graduated from high school so you have a good excuse. I have an advanced degree and often use advanced statistics and math modeling in my employment. I have given a coherent post as to why the paper is likely wrong, but you are not equipped to understand the nuance. I’d advise you to consider the poly sci-econ part of the argument and it’s influences on the outcome. All is not Kosher with this paper. My feeling is that it’s nothing but a setup job. Please understand that politics is a dirty, dirty business where truth is an unnecessary inconvenience.

@poetgrl:

Look at the comments. There are plenty if people that agree with me, if you are using the “popular is always right” argument.

All you have done this ENTIRE THREAD is INSULT me and him, use FALSEHOODS (which I have refuted) as arguments, and used conspiracies.

Not really, tomato.

What I am saying is that the thinking he has evinced and the questions he is asking and the answers he is giving reveal more about his point of view than they do about the subject matter.

I can find no serious supporter of his work, though there are many detractors.

You really need to look into the history of “study supported racism” and genocide, imperialism and colonialism. It’s really not a pretty story.

He is hardly the first to arrive with a study to “prove” some sort of racial bias, and then come up with policy ideas based on same said “proof.” In the past, this line of thinking has led to the ugliest episodes of human violence in Western and Eastern Europe, as well as in other places, including in European Asian colonizations.

It’s a horrible line of thinking which does nothing to forward culture, society, or humanity. It’s a line of thinking, obviously, and it has it’s antecedents, just not ones anyone wants to claim as their own.

HE IS NOT TRYING TO PROVE THAT HISPANICS HAVE INHERENTLY LOW IQS SOLELY DUE TO GENETICS!!! (go to page 67)
