<p>Is it best to do a supplement essay? Since it is optional. And if I decide to do one, can it be on anything? It lists possible topics but I don't like them.</p>
<p>Many students do not submit a supplemental essay and are accepted. Others are accepted with a supplemental essay. Much depends on whether you think you have anything additional to add to your application that has not already been said. And yes, the topic can be of your choosing.</p>
<p>My daughter, for example, submitted her Yale and Princeton supplemental essay to Harvard. I imagine many students do the same thing.</p>
<p>For what it’s worth: She was accepted to Harvard, but rejected at Yale and Princeton. Not sure what that says about what you should do.</p>
