Harvard Supplement Questions

Hello all,

I'm new to this website and was amazed to find so many strong candidates to Ivy League schools.

I just had some questions regarding Harvard Supplement.

First, is there a limit to the supplement essay? Some says 1,000 words and some says less then 500. Mine is apporx. 1000 words so I'm unsure whether to cut out many sentences. It flows very well and I found it extremely difficult to toss out any of the words.

Second, in the part where you have to check how "sure" you are about the job/interests/major and such, does this affect admission? Like you are better off to pick something that aligns with your resume or it helps if you pick something that not many people normally choose?

Third, on AP score part, I plan not to report any scores because I have all 4's. I mean, Harvard only accepts 5 anyway. If I don't put my AP scores, will that affect my admission negatively?

Fourth, for question "Which languages other than English can you speak, read, or write?" how fluent do we have to be to put something here. Does this mean you have to be in AP language courses?

Last, question about summer activities. If I went to sport camps (say, Soccer Leauge or Baseball camp) can i put those as well?

Thanks for reading my first thread and good luck to all of you! (esp EA applicants!)

I think 1,000 words is on the long side but it would probably be fine it it's the supplementary essay on the Harvard App.

Sureness about your intentions should have no bearing on your app.

Report the AP scores anyway, it will not hurt.

Only list the languages you are fluent in (i.e. you can survive in that foreign country with no problem).

You should report your AP scores.
