harvard supplement

i have a few questions regarding the harvard app:

when they ask for abilities in other languages, how proficient do you have to be?
i took 4 years of French, so is that good enough for at least an S (speak)? despite the fact that i got a 530 on the SATs for that. (yeh, ouch)

for summer activities, is it alright to list summer employment?

and if i sent in a supplementary rec, should i list that under supplementary materials? or additional info.

thanks

about the language question, you could mention that you speak french, and if that is the crucial factor that gets you into Harvard, you can spend the 4-5months before you get to Harvard honing up your french skills! Of course it could backfire if you have an interview and your interviewer starts speaking in french.

but since you have learnt french for 4 years, i guess you can speak it pretty well (SAT scores notwithstanding) so yes, include it.

"for summer activities, is it alright to list summer employment?"

It's a summer activity. So yes. I certainly did.

haha, a french-speaking interviewer. never thought about that. lol
thanks guys!
