Harvard..thoughts and No chance? :)

I don't believe I have a chance,it would be wonderful but even if I am smart enough in my classes and tend to be type A personality. It's still not enough which is rather pitiful but even so, I will still ask; cant hurt to wonder ;)

Alright so my GPA:
3.67 (Not the best but I am human, then again to Harvard you're not trying unless it's a 4.0)
Most classes are AP with A's and a few B's which hurt my GPA also the fact my Robotics teacher messed up my grades and even forgot to fix them when I got my last report card. (so typical of him, nevertheless, I'll carry on)

I took band since 8th grade and did stop in 10th grade on the second semester. I've won awards and participated in UIL for those years I spend in band. Got ratings of 1 which is the best! 5 being the worst.
I've been in classes that teacher even felt the need to make up an award just because of me being in it which great grades. (No joke, was a bit too much for my liking though, I hate the attention.)
SAT and ACT scores? ZERO, Haven't taken them. I will do so this new year which will be my Junior year.

When it comes to Taks taking exams, I am Commended in all subjects. Truth be told, it means I'm "college readiness"- High schools and their weird exams..

So I know when I take the SAT or ACT I'll get a high score, I also do plan to work hard on my GPA. Even so I know I am not Harvard material xP

I tend to do other "abnormal stuff" like instead of spending my time in helping the community or doing something amazing or BIG. I draw, am an artist, I write poetry, play music out of band (my passion for my own activities hasn't die) I unite with people in anime (Japanese) animation conventions, I workout for my own physical needs and I gotta say something; I do have an 'Average' life. I do have interest in science "Genetics" to be precise and have kept notes of ideas from research I've done but of course to do a full investigation on things I find fascinating, means I gotta have lots of money.

well, don't be so harsh haha, Just agree with me that I am not Harvard material instead of saying something really rude. Thanks :)

P.s it doesn't mean I don't believe I'm smart enough, trust me I'm a fighter and don't give up easily. I just try to set my goals high but realistic as well :p

sincerely - 'your average teenager'

Yeah, you aren’t. Your GPA is too low. I had rather more Bs/B+s than your average Harvard admit (from a somewhat grade-deflating high school), and still had about a 3.74 going into my senior year. You seem like a great candidate for your state flagship/its honors program, depending on what state you’re from, or maybe a still-really-good private university or liberal arts college. In private universities, I’m thinking Georgetown/Emory for a low reach or maybe Northwestern/Carnegie Mellon for higher ones. I don’t think you’ll get into Amherst or Williams or Swarthmore either, but maybe Bowdoin or Pomona or something. So yes, I think your evaluation of yourself is pretty much spot-on. You seem to be on a good trajectory.

With Harvard you never know till you apply.
You could improve :)

@exultationsy: Mhm, I know that, well I’m from Dallas, Tx and plan to study here~ not really moving to another place unless I have to. I’m going to study Film making/animation so an art institute will be good. I reach for the stars but don’t dare touch the sun  Plus I always believe that a person can become great no matter which place they study.

@DasSuiGeneris: Maybe so, but I rather live my life as a teenager than sacrifice it all for the next two years to improve. Trust me, I can and if I desired it, I would make it. I use to be a C student when I was in middle school. Even got Ds but my desire to be someone got me to A’s and few Bs in high school but ‘naw’ I’m okay as long as I can study what I love to do.

Thank you for your replies :)

I forgot to wish you good luck on everything. I wish you all the best  (Nor does so wishing seem likely to be an exercise in futility, as with some of the more neurotic posters on here. I have every confidence that you will, in fact, succeed!)

there are people with lower gpas that have gotten in. you can’t guarantee that with a 4.0 you’ll get in. But you have to improve your grades for junior year. Study for the SAT and ACT. you can buy books online for cheap prices. you like genetics? show that. find a professor to work with at a college that teaches genetics. find an internship. there are lots of programs for math and science. volunteer at a hospital. if you TRULY want to get into harvard, it’s not too late. and im being realistic with you. you just have to change a few things.

I think you might if you have a “spike” or in other words, excel at something you LOVE. definitely get a’s in the hardest classes-which might not necessarily affect your social life if you study smart, which doesn’t translate to 10 hours a day haha. you MUST get over a 2100 on the sat and at least a 33 on the ACT. Tale subject tests, and really show harvard how their school would benefit from you! don’t take it lightly, I’m facing the consequences of my bad grades now-but a few b’s shouldn’t hurt you that much, I’d also recommend taking a sport that’s not too popular like football/tennis/bball

Hey,.
I’ve done my 0-levels. I took 11 subjects out of which I got 8A’s including 3A*'s. I’ve done internships, taken part in declamations, debates and participated in other competitions too.Currently, I’m in the first year of A-level. I’ve taken world history, sociology, economics and maths. Well, I don’t know whether I’ve gone for the right subject choice. I basically want to go to IVY’s league, or probably a renowned university that ACTUALLY polishes my skills, and gives scholarships too. But, I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO? THE ROAD MAP? I don’t know whether my subjects are of scope or not. Which university should I apply to? What should I do in future that earns me a comfortable living, and is prestigious too. I’m afraid because I’ve seen many who work extraordinarily hard but they end up living a miserable life.
Here in Pakistan, we lack counselling. Please help me with sound pieces of advices so that I come out of this mental stress.
God bless you.
