Harvard Transfer Fall 2015

Transferring from GW, 4.0, 2100 SAT, interned at a congressional research division, won some awards, etc. Won’t get in but doesn’t hurt to apply

Applying to Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. 4.0 GPA, solid need to transfer and demonstrated talent in the field as a freshman in one particular language (of which I am not a native speaker)

I applied for the English concentration and Visual and Environmental Studies as a secondary field!

Are everybody’s main reasons for transferring academics-related?

^I think they had better be.

Are people submitting anything for the apparent “Mid-year report” due on March 31st? This form is not available for me on the Common App. There’s only the “Mid-term report” which was optional and not required. There’s no form for transfers for new grades after they are published this month (or in Jan/Feb depending on school). I contacted the Common App people and they told me to ask Harvard admissions if they “really mean” to require the Midyear report, insisting that the “Midyear report” is typically just for high-school students. Well, I really don’t want to seem distrusting and ignorant by asking if they “really mean” to say a document is required when it’s clearly stated on their transfer applicant website that it’s required. What are other people doing about this?

I don’t think they require mid-year report, it’s a mid-term report that they ask for.

@loodik1‌

I thought the same thing but I reread the website:

“The Midyear Report is due March 31. The midyear report form is available through the Common or Universal Application and allows your counselor to submit an updated transcript any time between Jan. 1 and March 31, depending on when your school publishes new grades. If you will not receive new grades between Jan. 1 and March 31, please contact us at fileroom@fas.harvard.edu.”

@student1117‌ I don’t get what it means either, seems like it would be for Fall Semester grades but I waited until those were sent on my official transcript. I won’t get official grades for my Spring Semester until like May. And the mid-term report is optional too. I sent an email asking. Maybe it’s if your Fall Semester grades don’t make it onto your official transcript?

I sent them my mid-term report already, and it’s marked as received, so I don’t think there is any additional paperwork needed. Maybe it’s for the schools on trimester systems? I also waited until my fall semester grades will be reflected on the transcript before sending it

Sigh… I’m on the quarter system and I’m worried my transcript (instead of a mid-term report) won’t go in time. My finals end this week and it takes like 2 weeks for processing so unless they can be mailed in a day things are looking kind of difficult.

I’m also on the quarter system. I don’t think it really matters if it’s late, they pretty much understand.

oh really? phew

Hey every body!?

Anyway, I sent in my part of the transfer by snail mail, and it was said to have been delivered by USPS early this month. Regardless, our (want/hope/soon-2-be, or anti-) alma-mater emailed me recently saying that it hasn’t received…the forms.

Did any1 else receive the email!?

Ps. as to the reason for transfer, mine is somewhat inconsequential [if not mainstream], given the high probability that I will/might definitely be rejected…talk about punk bands…All Muric’n Rejects: frankly, ‘Move along’–>to the acceptees (accept’d 1s).

Did you guys send in mid-term reports?? My 2nd quarter grades were pretty bad (there was a B+, damn) so I’m not planning to do that lol…I wonder if it matters

I’m going to send mine soon… Do I need a school letterhead on my envelopes or would it be ok for me to send it in by handwriting my school address? Would they accept it like that?

Is there a difference between the Mid-year report and mid-term report? I sent my mid-term report in and its been marked as received and the website doesn’t say anything is missing…

Just because a lot of your guys’ comments are making me cringe – to all of you asking, YES, the mid-term report is required and it’s most likely a typo that it said the “mid-year report is due March 31st”. They probably meant mid-term report and haven’t updated it from freshman applicants for the transfer applicants; despite Harvard being the “best in the whole world!”, they aren’t perfect. They’ve made typos before, particularly with regards to the deadlines of supplemental materials for transfers.
Guys, just chill.

@jkim3265‌ Where do you see that the mid-term report is required? It’s not listed here: https://college.harvard.edu/admissions/application-requirements

@20transfer17 Yea I’ll see myself out. Confused it with another university I’m applying to.
At the same time, not sending the mid-term report hurts more than it might help. After all, you’re not reporting possible evaluations and progress mid-semester.

@jkim3265‌ Nah it’s fine lol just wanted to make sure. I sent one just because I had to send one to other schools already.
