Diablo47: I don’t think an Interview is that importaint, but I can be wrong. When you say “I guess there must be someone who got in,” what do you mean?

btw, did anywone hear about the # of applicants?
300? or 500?

A woman who picked up the phone told me the # would be available in several weeks which is around this time…maybe I should try again or just wait and focus on this semester…haha

yes, i got contacted by an alumni and have an interview scheduled for next week. did anyone else get contacted?

Wow cgeorge, that is good news! Do you mind sharing your stats?

Sorry guys, I haven’t been particularly active on this thread. I was wondering, does anyone want to share their reasons for applying to Harvard? I got the impression that I was really just throwing 70 bucks away, but I did it anyway. Does anyone else have that feeling?

Also, would anyone here be interested in exchanging essays, or perhaps even posting one?

@Harrison
Right, we all had nothing better to do with our $70 bucks
besides, the odds are better than winning a lotto =P

Harrison:
I don’t think “throwing 70 bucks” is the right way to put it. Nonetheless, it might seem that way since the acceptance rate is very low. During the time when I applied, and now, I’ve felt good about myself. I think I have a good chance and even if I get rejected I am going to feel good 'cause I did something that no one has done in my family, I applied to Harvard. I wrote three letters to the dean before, and have received personal letters back. I hope this is memorable when she reads my app. When I tell people, they tell me that it’s uncommon for a dean to contact students at that level. There is something that I think all of us do wrong, put obstacles in front of us. During the time I applied I put passion into my essays and spent hours to write them, so Harrison, I am afraid I can’t post them here (PM me). It would be as If I drained my work through the Drain. I would suggest you to “chill” in terms of wanting to add to your stess. They are going to make you feel like…“aww…I should have done this.that.aww.” and feel bad about your chances. I often browse through CC and notice a lot of students putting people down by telling them their “chances” based on their stats. They can’t really tell you, or know how colleges accepted students; all they can tell you is what ……they ….think.

wow.
everyone seems like they are really putting their heart into the application…
lol
I am actually not that too much dissatisfied with my school… so I would probably not mind TOO MUCH when I get the rejection letter =P

or its just a part of me already mentally preparing for the thin letter (…)

kakarooooo, I think all of us are mentally preparing for rejections. Nothing is a certain when it comes to Harvard admissions. There’s no magic bullet…we just have to wait and see.

wait so no one else got contacted for an interview? im so confused now. my stats are not that great at all…

@cgeorge
Idk… personally, I believe I have a competitive stat to be in the initial screening… (if they indeed do so)
Not trying to be a snuck-up, but just saying… If it really is the case that they did that initial screening and I didnt get through and thus wasnt offered an interview, and that my stat: 2350SAT and 3.9cGPA in a tier one univ doesnt get me in the initial screening, I am just VERY depressed.
