Holy cow…Are you a recruited athlete cgeorge? I’m kinda feeling depressed because I my SATs scores are so dismal…

Lol hi rileyjohn!!! I always see u on cornell thread :)

I haven’t heard from them either. Also. I am not sure about them accepting only 12 students. I’ve talked to admission officers and they’ve told me they will acccept around 20.

According to harvard crimson, its 10 to20

Yeah, I don’t agree with only 12…Kakarooooo (lol I had to cound how many O’s): 20 sounds better…
I heard no one on Collegeconfidential will get accepted this year? I guess there’s an undercover admissions officer on here! PM me 4 more info

i dont know where my interviewer heard the number 12 from, im just relaying information. and im 99.99% sure i didnt just get an interview because of my stats, the lady acted as though they tried to interview all transfer applicants.

I just want to point out that transfers (any non-freshmen), I think, go into upperclass housing. So, the number of transfer admits may not depend so much on 2014ers accepting spots and the whole freshman waiting list process as how many upperclassmen/women dropped out of Harvard or chose to study abroad next fall. Thus, admissions should have a pretty good idea of how many spots they have open.

They may possibly have more open spots than 10-20, but they want to de-crowd the houses or they just want to give a conservative estimate. I was under the impression that housing overcrowding was the reason they suspended transfers for two years.

If Harvard wants to start enriching their school with more transfers in the future, to me the most obvious actions are to build more housing or to encourage many more students to study abroad. I think the latter is very much the case that we are facing, judging from their philosophy of education.

A final note: from the 2007 transfers thread, admissions results for this year could well come as early as Monday, May 17. They wouldn’t necessarily need more time because it seems they have so much fewer candidates this year (300-500) than in the past (1100-1300), despite the later deadline (March 15). I think we can be sure to know the results BY June 1. One month to go, then. :)

To everyone!:I was kidding when I said no one from CC will get accepted, just wanted to start a new convo. It seems like this thread is dead!!!

LOL!!! hahaha, i guess we’ll probably just have to wait until it nears the decision date for more activity.

A bit of inspiration:

All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renenwed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king. -Tolkien

Thanks for the inspiration…!!
music,Work, etc: May I ask, what’s your major/concentration?

Government/Philosophy. I’m really loving my philosophy classes so far and I’ll get to hear Amartya Sen later this week. I’m also applying as a sophomore.

I am applying as a Junior. My major is Afro/African Studies. Good luck I hope you get accepted.

Hey everyone. Just got contacted for my interview. It is scheduled for Saturday morning at 9am. I’ll let you know how it goes.

i wish i got an interview…sigh. my harvard interview last year was terrible, the most interesting i talked about were my eyeball floaters NO LIE

Are all transfers offered interviews? I’m loosing hope as each day goes by…

lol I am past worring now =P I guess Im not gonna get in … no interview yet!!
o well, I’m quite happy here… so maybe it’s not that bad…

I didn’t apply to Harvard as a transfer applicant because I knew I had no chance without a 4.0. I can’t imagine how they are going to choose between you guys since I’m sure all of you are qualified enough for Harvard. It’s just the few who are lucky enough that are given that chance to attend. How do they pick!?!

There is 100% chance of getting rejected if we get no interview?? I thought transfers are not usually get interviews as stated in the website…

Trying to look from admission’s point of view, again, they could want (or not want) an interview for several reasons. Your recommendations may say you have awesome character, both of them–they might trust that and: no interview. The recommendations differ: they might want to interview you (if they can). Your application is a little lackluster but you have great stats–they want to know if you can rephrase yourself or add some more enthusiasm and genuineness to your app: they interview. Alumni are busy or not in your area: no interview. A freshman interview you thought went horribly might actually have been just neutral–and they think your good recommendations from high school AND college are enough evidence for your character, intelligence, and potential : no interview. These are just examples and from my point of view.

I don’t think they interview based on whether or not they plan to accept you; they just interview at the time they might need more information. If discussion of applications is random, there is no way of knowing what an interview implies.

And good luck to you too, Harvardhop and everyone else!
