Happy May, all. :)

if i get into harvard…i will pay everyone who posted before me $5 per person haha

Month of truth, ey.

Either accepted or rejected!

-HH

i wish that there were a way to stop thinking about this everyday.

question: what makes you think that they are going to call someone once they are admitted? i think that the website made it pretty clear that decisions (regardless of whether they are an admittance or rejection) were going to be emailed. did i miss something? other thoughts?

also, anyone on here that would strongly consider turning harvard down if they were admitted?

I would never turn Harvard down. I love Boston too much. :)

I think they might call as soon as they vote to admit someone, then based on your response they mail your physical “big envelope.” Then perhaps on a specified date they also email everyone’s decisions (the accepted, rejected, waitlisted) for your official e-records. In this way, if you’re accepted, you might know sooner than if you’re not. This is just how that waitlist works, so I guess its the same for the small transfer pool.

good to hear that it is up from “10-20” to “not more than 25”. This thread should see at least 2 acceptances

Results will be out by the 15th? Awesome.

My stats (sophomore transfer):
Current college: UVA
SATs: 2350
SAT IIs: Math II 800, Physics 800, US History 800
College GPA (first sem): 3.82
HS GPA: close to 4.0 unweighted (3 B+'s, rest A’s)
Awards/ECs/etc.
USAMO in 10th grade, RSI, USPhO semis, Seimens/Intel STS semis, other minor stuff; I did a lot of math team stuff in high school, but very few ECs in college (mostly Putnam prep).
The thing I’m counting on is that I took a very advanced courseload (starting in junior level physics classes, and taking two graduate math classes this semester (though they’re frequently taken by advanced juniors/seniors). I’m kind of worried about the lack of ECs though.

I will post my stats after I receive Harvard’s decision.

godot were you accepted to H YPMSCal in hs? your ECs are amazing. btw did you place in top 500/200 in the putnam? i took it, but didn’t place obviously.
Putnam fellowship–the ultimate transfer hook. i want one xP but i’ll need 100 more years of math to even make top 100

Woah. Putnam. You can sefely get in imfao.

uh I only got into UVA in hs, got rejected by HPM and Duke (dunno what happened there… it’s entirely possible they didn’t like my essays)

I got 311th in Putnam this year (corresponding to a score of 30/120)

damn, i feel for you godot. i thought i had it bad when i got rejected from even bing, but your stats and ECs are 100x better than mine, you have the same stats as my hs valedictorian and he got into HYPMS. i can’t believe HPM didn’t take an intel semifinalist! seriously, i think you especially deserve to be there next year. did you apply to MIT for transfer as well?

good luck Godot!

It looks like you have a great chance, godot!

Yeah I also applied transfer to MIT Yale and Caltech

Those are ridiculous stats godot. I also applied to MIT and it seems that decisions could be released this week or the next. It’s people like you that make me lose hope, but am still hanging in there. Did you take the caltech transfer exam?

Can any of the people with interviews tell us out it went?

Did you guys put down that you applied to MIT etc on the application? I only applied to Harvard, I don’t know if that is a good thing or a bad thing

@htransfer
where are you applying from? that can show your commitment, but also show that you maybe somewhat satisfy with your current institution.

Exactly. I’m not sure if it shows commitment or ambivalence towards transferring. I’m applying from one of the top public schools in the country.

Well, if out of 500 there are only about 20 people with scores like Godot, then that’s a good thing because my application is just as strong (although not listing my stats here until I get in). So CCers, care to list all your stats along with stats of people you know who also applied?

:D

Also, anyone out there who “stuck out”…like anyone who almost cured cancer or started their own business?
