HARVARD TRANSFER Fall2010

i submitted my SAT IIs…did a lot of people not submit them?

i though they were required? i sent them way back in feb

I think I submitted only SAT1 scores…

SATIIs are optional for transfer… im applying for transfer nxt yr, so i was curious :3

They will have had mine from freshman application round and they were good enough, so I wasn’t going to “select” for scores and sent all.

Does anyone know when they’re actually making final decisions? Looking at the WL thread, they got hundreds of kids on the waitlist, and will be accepting 50. thats a lot of guys to sort through/keep the adcoms busy.

When will they be making transfer decisions?

Despite Wellnow’s wonderful scoop (page 20), I think May 15 is the soonest we will all hear as a group. I guess yesterday was the first day the transfer committee met, though, so give it another week and they might start calling the applicants they’ve voted affirmative on. If not, does it really matter? The 15th will be here soon enough, and with it some certainty.

The trick is not having stellar grades or high SATs (that is taken for granted) but a really compelling reason for wanting to attend Harvard. My roommate transferred (he is now in his first year at the Kennedy School having graduated from Harvard College last year) and he transferred from Cambridge University in England. He said he told them he wanted an American liberal arts curriculum and to work on a project organised by the School of Ed. That’s fairly typical. It is your REASONS for transferring that really matter. Good luck! Getting in as a transfer is a million times tougher than as a Freshman, so I salute you!

woah wait a second music work play–they actually call you!? That would be sick

how do you know that yesterday was the first day they met?

I believe they call you; I know this from the transfer thread from '06 and before.

The council meets at the beginning of May, and yesterday was the first business day of this month. Your regional representative has likely already seen your application and whittled it down to the basics; it makes sense that this week and next week they meet as a committee to discuss the cases in advance of the 15th. I do not, though, know this for a fact.

Does anyone want to call and find out if they’re deliberating? ;)

Hmm…actually, you just get an email. A package should arrive soon after. They definitely did not call (or at least not the majority) in my year.

It seems I stand corrected. :)

Yeah they don’t call. I read that 06 thread too. The guy they called was on the wait list, and they called to ask him if he was still interested because the committee had decided to admit him.

Does Harvard admit international transfer students?

Friend just called…they will be admitting 25 transfers this year from an applicant pool of over 500

How did we get from 300 to 500 to 700 applicants, well after the deadline? But 35 is a nice number of transfers.

haha sorry heard the wrong number and typed the wrong umber!

Hi!
I’m an international student applying for transfer as a junior undergraduate to Harvard. I just got an email from my regional admissions officer representative a couple hours ago. I’m going to be interviewed by an alumni in a couple of days! (I’m from Chile).

Is this good news? Do they normally ask for interviews? Has anyone gone to an interview already? What are they looking to get from this interview?

I was also wondering if you guys could give me a couple of tips!

Thank you!

the admissions office called me today, but only to inform me that they havent gotten my college report yet argh
