HARVARD TRANSFER Fall2010

They are really going to release them on a Saturday? It seems like the 14th or 17th would make more sense.

I am not sure if it has been said yet, Brown is mailing out decisions May 12th.

Okay…I just made a call to the office…the email decisions the woman said will be sent around this friday or saturday and only 12 would be offered admissions…
I first asked if 25 students would be admitted, and she corrected me; maybe i should not hope too much…

it’s 12 now? sheesh they give out different numbers each time on purpose to confuse people because they know we post everything they tell us onto the internet! i wouldn’t be surprised if that number goes up to 15 on Friday.

ps. I called Monday morning to confirm the 25 I had before…they lady said “Sorry I do not have access to that information.” You know, I really wish they’d just be frank with the students who paid the application fee. If they really don’t know, don’t tell 12 to one person, 25 to another, 10 to another, and 20 to another.

i also just called. i asked again when decisions would be released. she had me hold, and then she kindly informed me that both emails and snailmail decisions are released on FRIDAY. i then asked if she had information regarding the number of people admitted, and she said “no, sorry, we don’t”

did the person that you spoke to simply tell you that only 12 would be admitted? that’s seems rather uncharacteristic.

i believe hconfidential on this one…i called previously and the lady said “25”…i called another time and she said “10 or 12” then another time and she said “20”…then back to 25. like ***

Yea, I said “I heard 25 are going to be admitted” and she said “well, i think its twelve…”

Oh, dont get me wrong! I totally believe hconfidential; I was just curious about how the information came up in conversation. Not only do they seem to be giving different numbers, but they also seem to intermittently give out (and hide) the same piece of information to different people.

To be clear, however, when I called originally, I was told “up to 25” – I suppose that the most recent number is probably the most accurate simply because we now know (with a reasonable degree of certitude) that the decisions have been made.

ugh, this is torture.

Agreed…anyone have a time for when the emails are going to be sent out Friday?

this is ridiculous. we pay a good application fee and the least they could do is provide a little bit of transparency. we have the right to know and not get lied to.

I guess like Yale or others acceptances would be sent first in the morning which wouldnt take too much time (only 12 emails…) and then the rejections or waitlists…

i called too…decisions will be released on Friday by email, definitely. The girl I talked to actually was an undergrad–when I asked how many would be accepted, she was like “i’m not authorized to give that info…” But, after a bit of manipulation, she finally budged. She put me on hold so she could ask one of the “administrators,” and once she came back, she said the magic number which all of us have speculated–12 would be accepted. Hopefully, this clears things up.

not authorized to give that info? youre kidding me right. theyve been “giving” out numbers for months!

yeah, i know, its all a bunch of bureaucratic bullsh**. But let’s stop wasting our time speculating. Friday will come soon, so just wait.

Friday?!!?!! I guess I better pull out the ben & jerrys and some kleenex now. ONly 12 friggin’ people?!

wow only 12?
there’re 25 spots available but they only found 12 qualified applicants? that is CRAZY

12 people… watch no one who follows this forum get admitted. we’ll all be freaking out thinking the acceptances haven’t been sent out yet

Having one additional (transfer) student per upperclass house (I believe there are 12?) does little to “overcrowd” houses. Hence, there may not really be much space for transfers after all, but they really wanted to get the program going again–for application fees, diversity, or what have you…

Still, having 2 additional students per house wouldn’t really overcrowd either, and people do go abroad or even leave Harvard. So, I am inclined to believe that the chance of 12 admits is credible for the moment, but they might change that before Friday. They might admit still more than the total they accept initially from the waiting list. Don’t over-think this; we’ll know soon enough.

I completely agree, though i hate to see “waitlisted” in my decision mail, i guess they might later decide to accept more from the list. Based upon the woman’s certitude in her voice, I believe they already decided to admit only 12 at this time. But agin I hope they might meet again and change their minds…

Out of curiosity…anyone from Deep Springs here?
