Hey Guys,

my first post.
I am a rising freshmen at a LAC ranked in the 20-30 by US NEWS and want to transfer out. I'm taking classes to double major in econ so if I stay here I'll most probably end up doing that. I have a 4.0 GPA this year and frankly my LAC hasn't exactly been very challenging. I want to get out.

I had a 2270 on my SAT and got a 790,790 and 790 in SAT IIs
HS GPA was a 3.9

I dont find the environment at LAC stimulating. Actually thats probably not the case. Everybody is really nice and I am having lots of fun but frankly I was really disappointed because my friends with similar stats got into an ivy. I know that you would say that Im probably transfering just for the name, but it really hurts to have worked so hard and ended up in a college that doesnt have such a great reputation, in fact in Cal few people would have even heard of it.

Worse, I somehow think that I have failed my parents who have sacrificed so much. They never say it but I can feel it.

Im on the student government at college, just got elected actually. There's a bunch of other stuff in some clubs, but nothing really major(You cant be a freshmen and be a president). Im planning to transfer next year. So i'll be (hopefully) entering my new college as a junior.

I guess I really got my essays wrong when I was applying from HS and got rejected by 7 ivies. Not even waitlisted simply rejected.

I am sorry if I am coming across as frustrated and angry.

I want to leave my LAC. I think I should use the research route. My LAC is lacking in Research. What are some distinguishing features about Harvard econ research?? Why does it stands out?? Also applying to Chicago and Yale so if someone has some specific info on these colleges' econ depts and their research opportunities, I'll be very grateful.

Thanks guys

And I know that a lot of you may write in to say that name and brand dont matter but as someone who wants to work in the business industry possibly wall street, brandname does matter not just for jobs but also for MBA. I have had a tough time getting a good internship this year and finally ended up at a good firm thanks to my dad's connections. Name matters and I need help. You may think I am shallow, and probably I am. One thing I am sure about right now is that I am disgruntled, frustrated and angry and I dont want to be like this for the rest of the three years. Thanks
