Might it not better to see if you get in before you start to stress about the social life?

Normally I would say yes, absolutely, but considering I will have about a day to decide after I get in (if I get in) whether or not I want to go there (I am asking for extensions on other schools) I'd like to get my information ahead of time. I think we all realize how difficult it is to get in. But in the case that we do have that option, will harvard truly be the best for us?

That makes sense. Where do you go now? Good luck to you!

I've heard different things about the decision date. Does anyone know for sure?

Re: Housing for transfers.

You will be asked to fill in a housing application if you get in and they will do the best they can to hand match you with suitable roommates. Now, a lot of times you'll end up with transfers. Sometimes, there may be an opening in some preexisting blocking group (someone takes a semester off, goes abroad etc.) and you may end up living with other Harvard students. Or, if you end up in Pfoho, you may get a single.

You will be guaranteed housing on campus if you submit the form on time.
They will do the best they can for you to have an enjoyable first year.

Chanchito-I go to Swarthmore right now. Good luck to you too! I'm not holding out much hope, but there is always that voice in the back of my head that tells me it's possible. In other news, GAH! Stupid transfer admissions and the different deadline dates for different schools...Wellesley wants me to tell them whether I'm coming before either Tufts OR Harvard grant decisions. But Tufts has been lovely and has offered to expedite my decision for me...I'm still bitter about W though...

Also, I forgot, but I called H and they said definitely before the end of the month, but definitely not by may 15...so theres about 15 days of leeway in there...haha. I'm sure it will probably be around the 20th like last year.

I'm actually quite glad that it won't be out before the 15th because I want to take my exams here at Columbia without knowing. It wouldn't help either way:
If I don't get in, I'll be sad and not do well. If I do get in, I'll be euphoric and not do well. Still, I hope to find out as soon as possible once I'm back home.

has anyone applied with a gpa below 3.8 ?

On the harvard admissions site for transfer students it reads:

Each year the Committee admits a small number of transfer students who present clearly defined academic needs for transfer, supported by both a proven record of achievement at the college level and strong faculty recommendations. This year 75 students were admitted from over 1,000 applicants. We hope the information that follows will enable you to give careful consideration to Harvard College as you make plans to continue your education.

Does the "this year" imply us or last year?

last year i bet

that message has been up for several months...it is last year.

anyway, this year because of the cut in transfer class size, they will probably be taking more along the lines of 35-40

word, i was just confused.

Hey are there any other international applicants out there?

represent! From Ghana. applying to only Harvard and Cornell! I'm in U of Ghana now.Scared to the bone, esp with Cornell's decision rolling.

hey im an international.

where else haveyou applied?

I am an international student as well. Did you guys get interviews?

no i didn't but the rowing coach called me up, which was cool

pretty sure it means nothing though as ivies don't take that kind of thing too seriously im told

Oh, good, yeah I wanted to ask if any internationals (preferably UK) applicants got phone calls interviews and the like.

Of course they do. What did the coach tell you on the phone?

Hey, WindCloud, have you ever (even for a tiny moment) regretted transferring? Do you ever miss Northwestern and want to go back?
