Cool. I grew up in Ellington, and then lived in Suffield and West Hartford for high school...

nice, i was born in hartford.

Dude Janel it's always you and the CT connections on these threads - that's how the last Harvard thread died out! No more idle chit-chat!

Oh and I agree, the Harvard room is much nicer, the crown molding is extremely classy and attractive, and the lighting is soft and dimensional, whereas the Princeton room looks like a bunker with hotel furniture (like the Best Western comment, I know, credit given where credit due).

Penn doesn't have common areas. We have lots and lots of security and some shootings, and a nice fine arts library. Philly makes Crime-Bridge look like Hamptons crime-wise :) Why, I just got chased home to my dorm this evening . . . won't be sleeping for awhile. Change of scenery would be good.

Ok so I won't yammer more. Hmm more Harvard info, more more . . . I hear that the Freshman yard is almost never seen on TV, seen by outsiders, or taken pictures of because of it's exclusivity and prestige, and Harvard's house community system is built off of this sense of exclusivity . . . I guess if I do go to Harvard, I sure hope this doesn't stifle, I mean I'm sure it helps break down barriers for people. For those of you at semi-prestigious institutions as well, what has your experience been?

I don't think you need to worry about this thread dying out, Brian. The decisions are but a few days away. ;)

Oh and Brian, don't worry, the crime cannot be worse than that at UMass; it's been statistically proven, we have the highest rate of violent crime of any campus in the nation. Yup. I get to hear all the stories of girls getting raped while going to the bathroom. Good times.

This is odd, seeing as the entire summer that I was there, the Yard was inundated with tourists every day, clicking their cameras and getting the heftiest load of Hahhhvahhd.

By the way, I wonder how they're doing amidst all this flooding. I heard that the entire Boston area was flooded.

homeless people sleep in the yard. and it is always full of tour groups rubbing that gross toe that the students do such disgusting things to. and on weekends, there are drunk kids from schools all over the city running through it.
janel, worry not. the flooding's not too bad in the city.

Good to hear. We haven't had any flooding in the western part of the state, fortunately. I take it that you're in or near Boston, dnanya. What school do you currently attend?

Oh, well, then screw it. Not important I guess. I can't believe it's the 17th. I feel like I'm waiting for the firing squad to make a decision. It keeps going through my head; "I should get accepted for these reasons for sure" but then comes "I will inevitably get the 'The committee has finished reviewing transfer applications, blah blah blah, were not able to offer you a spot, blah blah' ". I just want it to end so I can even go to a bar or back home to family without thinking about it. What would your summer plans be if you get in? Anyone?

Ah Harvard Summer Session brings back good memories. I went for the secondary school program and it was the best summer of my life. I wish I could relive it over and over again!

What have you all heard about the Harvard Extension School? I've heard that it is like the back door to Harvard if you don't get into the normal undergrad. Is this true?

not really a back door...not the same professors, not the same students, no prestige...and if you get your degree from there it says harvard extension school, not harvard.

so...Harvard men and women any news...?

pardon me, just really bored~!

Woooo.

Edit: No, "woooo" is not a word.

lol! u have some serious issues goin on nspeds!

gosh, that reminds me of studying for the SATs! the sheer horror!

Hmmm..I know this is weird, but I sort of don't want to get into Harvard.

I already got into Columbia (CC) (brown too--I'd choose columbia over brown), but it would be really hard to choose columbia over harvard, yet I think I'd be happier at Columbia..Aahhhh- I just want this all to be over and final

God, I'm so glad that it's finally almost over with. I can get my rejection in approximately 36 hours, and move on with life. Sigh...

I'm basically going to sleep away tomorrow so that time goes by faster- o the anxiety!

SOMETHING COULD BE HAPPENING!!! I just went to try the application status page and it is back up! BUT then I put in my pin and name and it said authentication failed. I know that pin, and my last name, by heart so I know i'm doing it right. Any thoughts folks???

It's been going on and off like that over the last few days since the 15th; but never gets you to your actual page. I wouldn't start jumping off the top of your building just yet.
