Harvard University Class of 2022 RD Thread

@whoknows2022 I’d say don’t think too much into why you got the interview (and all the logistics), just focus on making a good impression.

I also received an interview earlier this week

Where are you from @abraham2311 ?

SoCal, couple hours north of LA

@LIGIA

@abraham2311 Thank you so much for your prompt reply. Good luck!

@olivia42 Most people who get likely letters have exceptional extracurriculars. I know a handful that have received likelies to Harvard and Yale, and they are the absolute cream of the crop. Good examples of likely recipients are people who- have started extremely successful nonprofits, are national presidents of clubs, have major awards in research (like winning ISEF or coming pretty darn close), hold multiple patents, etc. For those people, their test scores mean relatively little as their unique extracurricular abilities make them highly desirable to colleges.

In short, if you don’t have those qualifications, don’t expect a likely.

Here is an article that might clear up some questions you may have about them.

I just realized that Harvard requires 2 subject tests. I took Bio M and Math 2 but did pretty bad - 700 and 720 respectively. Will my application not even be considered without them?

Yes, it will be considered.

Also, subject tests are optional.

@FreePariah I am a co-founder of an Aerospace startup, I am designing something radical called the Coax 360…etc but still no likely letter or interview 8-> . Well, I only hope for the best

Do you know when is the deadline for sending out LLs?

@LIGIA I have no idea.

I am an international. Do internationals even get likely letters?

@TeddyAzzz yeah harvard does send likelies to internationals. A guy in my country got one last year on the tenth of March, but I’ve heard that the ivies send out likelies even upto the 20th of March. One guy on CC even got a likely on the twenty sixth of march, not sure how true this was though. Long story short, if your extracurriculars impress them enough, they’ll definitely send you a likely letter no matter how late. And even if they dont, just remember that likelies are only sent to a handful of the admitted students. As for the interview, that could be a problem depending on the country you live in. Harvard interviews in my country are definitely selective. But hey, its harvard. Even the best of the best get rejected here The fact that you had the guts to apply to one of the most prestigious institutions in the world alone is admirable.

I’ve literally seen people who had great sats, grades and everything but chose to stay away from harvard, whereas those with mediocre sats applied and gained admissions there.

Guys quick question, do you guys think that I have a good chance of getting accepted because i am from a country with low number of students in Harvard (Palestine)? I heard from a few college counselor that something like this is true for elite universities due to the demanded diversity in their classes.
P.S. my SAT is in the 1300s and i have fair extracurriculars, and an outstanding Essay. I got deferred from early Decision but my friend got accepted with a lower SAT than mine and almost same extracurriculars.
What do you guys think?

@Harvard2022maybe Where you are from definitely has some weight in the admissions process; however, don´t count too much on it.

@xxluvforeverxx if you mean that i shouldn’t talk alot about where I’m from and the stuff i face here, I didn’t. I only briefly mentioned it.

Ok people here’s a tricky one, I live in Palestine, I have lived in Palestine all my life,( except for a few years in Spain), I was born in Palestine, I was educated in Palestine, BUT i acquired my full US citizenship as a US citizen of birth abroad, cuz my Mom is US citizen. In the application pool, do i count as a Palestinian? Or do i count as US citizen?
