It’s unlikely that they would contact any student at all before decisions are posted. If they require add’l info, they would contact the GC. But really, don’t try to read any tea leaves of who calls whom and when.
That’s being more than a little overdramatic. For starters, the AO will only skim the abstract. The probability that the abstract is in his/her field of expertise is close to zero. Refer back to my post #329 on this thread for more info on supplements.
Secondly, this question literally comes up hundreds of times each year. It’s not a big deal. If colleges, including Harvard, rejected every applicant with a typo, they would not be able to fill their class.
Chill. Read the “clam fart” thread here. He was accepted.
Was just curious because on last year’s thread someone who was accepted SCEA said they had received a call from an AO telling them they’d put in a good word to the committee.
Hope everyone’s interview went well today and to those having there’s soon!
@Chozley *their’s
@skieurope so in reference to your SAT post:
By that logic and the common data set you cited, is it safe to assume that the 25th & 50th percentile SAT scores that prepscholar releases are higher than the actual numbers?
I know I shouldn’t be worried about this, but I was really hoping to have an interview but I haven’t been contacted in a little over a week.
were we supposed to upload research supplements as pdfs? i sent in word docs… oops. but i also didn’t see a statement by harvard saying that they had to be pdfs…
@VeritasFicta whoops good thing I proofread my essays lol
But anyways yea hope interviews went well! Were we all asked the same questions?
@LOA1000 The 25th percentile is probably higher, while the 75th percentile is probably lower. The average should be about the same.
@Chozley Nope! The interviews are supposed to be rather casual. Although most interviewers would ask why you applied and more of these kind of questions, most interviews will just mainly be about some things you like a lot. So no, not everyone is asked exactly the same questions :-).
I agree with @tomas1355 on the 25th and 75th. For the 50th, it’s anyone’s guess. But really, don’t dwell on it - it is what it is.
Still haven’t gotten contacted for an interview… Starting to get worried.
@VeritasFicta check your spam bc mine went there
are interviewers given information about the applicant before the interview? (ie common app essays, activity list, etc.)
Just had my interview! Went very well!
@ecoearth Nah, I didn’t have any email in my spam either apart from random colleges
@asaltyattic No they aren’t. They receive your name, contact info, high school, and what academic interest you listed on your application. Beyond that, they know nothing about you.
How important would u guys say interviews are? Does the admissions office trust certain interviews, depending on their past recommendations?
@LeBirthdayBoss interviews are ranked on a scale and they only matter if they were really good or very bad. most applicants fall in the middle so it has little effect.
