Harvard University Class of 2022 SCEA Applicants Thread

I’d guess they’ll be out Thursday, December 14th at 5 p.m. ET, if past years are any indicator.

I literally cannot believe I am a senior now lol this uni app process is making me go crazy

Hi everyone! Glad I found this thread. I’m applying SCEA to Harvard (as a CS major, possibly math minor). I have legacy so I’m hoping that’ll help. I’m also applying to Yale, Stanford, Amherst, brown, Hamilton, haverford, Swarthmore, oberlin, RPI, Binghamton, Middlebury, Tufts, Wesleyan, Vassar, and UChicago. My list is crazy long right now, I’m trying to shorten it a little bit. Good luck to everyone!!

Howdy college confidential folks, I’m applying to Harvard SCEA as an Anthro major (possibly philosophy- haven’t nailed one concentration down yet). I took three subject tests in STEM (Physics, Math II, and Biology) and did pretty well on them. Since I’m applying as a non-STEM major, should I try my luck at the English Lit or US History SAT II? Or does it not matter all that much? I applied SCEA last year (applied math major)… deferred then waitlisted. I’m trying everything I can this year to maximize my odds…

@yungdepression It does not matter at all which Subject Tests you take.

FYI, which you may already know, Harvard does not admit by major, so you are applying to Harvard, not a major (or a concentration in Harvard-speak).

Hi everyone! So I recently took the SAT USH and Math2 and got 710 and 670, respectively. I have two questions: Should I send the USH for REA and retake the Math2 in November, or just retake both in Nov? Can I still take the Nov tests and make the deadline? It’s kind of confusing. Also, it would be my 3rd time taking USH. Thanks!

Not confusing at all:

So you can submit November scores.

Perhaps try a different subject? The 670 will certainly not enhance your application, while the 710 is a bit on the low side for Harvard, IMO.

Hey guys, I’m planning on applying to Harvard SCEA this year and was hoping you guys could give me some feedback.

Im an African-American (Kenyan) male from Texas.
ACT: 32 second-sitting (I know Harvard doesn’t superscore but I would have a 33)
SAT II: US History 730, taking biology or literature in october
GPA: ~118.83 (4.75 W, 4.0 UW)
Class rank: Currently 3 of 570 (top 0.5%)

My cousin who graduated from my high school 4 years ago got in RD and went to Harvard (got into Stanford, Columbia, Rice, and Duke as well). I’m on par if not better than him from a stats standpoint. What do you guys think?

@MaybeHarvard2022 Dude you’re stats are just like mine tbh. I’m a Nigerian male in South Carolina with similar SAT scores man. MY SAT 1 relates to a 32 as well. And I got a 760 on Bio M. Anyways my GC called Harvard for me, and they went through my transcript and scores. They said I look competitive, but if I could get my SAT up 30-40 points it would definitely help. So IDK tbh. I honestly feel like when you pass the threshold, 1470/32 (SAT/ACT) you are in the running. But then again, what do I know? Good luck my dude.

@Tobster18 thanks I appreciate it. How did your GC get Harvard to go through your transcript? I’ve never heard of prescreening from Harvard in my life, especially for non-athletes.

@MaybeHarvard2022 It wasn’t really official. She just called the admission office and she went through my transcript and scores with the officer, not really official or anything. Ask you GC if he/she could call for you.

@Tobster18 Ohh ok, thanks.

Is everyone still planning to apply despite the article about Harvard reducing acceptances this year? Not sure how worried I should be as a potential SCEA

@asaltyattic I still am! The article definitely makes me nervous (more so than I already was) but, hey, you have to put yourself out there and see what happens.

Harvard SCEA!!! sending my application soon

Congrats to all the recruited athletes who received their Likely Letter yesterday. All your hard work has finally paid off. Enjoy the rest of the senior year!!!

@noanswers how do u know LLs have been sent?

@MaybeHarvard2022 My kid’s friends who were being recruited by Harvard have received them this past Sunday Oct 1. Another wave of LL will be sent today.

Does Harvard have regional admissions representatives and do you know how to get in contact with one if so?

Yes.

Harvard does not release that information publicly. When a student gets accepted, s/he will learn the name of the AO. Until then, applicants should address their questions to the general mailbox
