^^ Yeah someone who hasn’t called before should call the admissions office haha
Just goes to show that you can’t believe everything you read. It was the 12th last year.
Okay so Princeton SCEA applicants just got an email with the date and time their decisions will be released… Gosh why can’t Harvard do that? :-S
I called just in case & the guy who picked up said “mid December” sooo there’s that lol
Guys - stop worrying. The decision will come when the decision comes. Focus on other stuff - that you’re obsessing about the precise date of an admissions decision rather than, say, trying to make a positive impact is…worrying.
@FishMan4212 Amen to that. The world will keep spinning whether you get in or not. And if you don’t, another very fine school will be awaiting you. Successful people aren’t defined by where they went to school, they’re defined by what they did, how they did it, and what impact they made. Truly successful and respectable people find a way to achieve their dreams and goals no matter what situation or environment they’re in.
@eastcampus Excellent said :)>-
i spoke to an older alum awhile back about the anxiety around college admissions and he replied that I should read a random Harvard 25th year reunion book. It would show that the vast majority of graduates are not living stellar lives; they are not Senators, Nobel Prize winners, titans of industry. For many the prestige in their lives peaked at Harvard but eventually equilibrated with most other “ good” students. Today he rarely if ever mentions Harvard to people; as a matter of fact it would come across weird. Success is more about what happens after college. Whether you go to Harvard or Brown or vanderbilt or UCLA makes little difference in the long run. Have perspective.
That being said, i am still anxious
Is anyone here from Florida? Specifically southwest Florida? Or know anyone who’s applying from SW FL?
Might as well see who’s in the same docket as me… ;
I completely agree with all of you guys, but I still can’t suppress the subconscious anxiety LOL
@oRcHiD4 I’m from near Florida but not the same state
@nijusohc Alabama? Georgia?
Georgia idk if they put the surrounding states in the same “bucket” but I remember the regional admissions officer was talking about how she and someone else was in charge of Georgia and the surrounding states @oRcHiD4
I would echo what @Robbyb has described. One needs only to read Harvard Magazine’s Class Notes/Obituaries to see this in action—folks certainly lead interesting and accomplished lives, but it’s not like everyone is a celebrated leader in their field.
This probably isn’t the place to wax philosophical about American society and power dynamics, but I’d argue that tech in some sense is an egalitarian force that is eroding the “garden walls” of elites. Specifically, those in financial services. It’s no secret that America is on a crash course with extreme inequality, but I think the ability to code will prove to be an equalizer --at least directionally–in the future.
@hgrad2010 Thank you. Interesting point.
In theory being cool and collected is logical and simple enough but in practice not so much unfortunately
@oRcHiD4 My son is from the central Fl area. Luckily he has a full ride to UF so he hasn’t been anxious and has an amazing opportunity regardless of what happens. Best of luck to you and I’m sure being in Fl you have some terrific options as well. He is wanting to do CS.
@“rêveuse” as @eastcampus said, I am from Kansas
Guys any thread on Harvard Regular Decision??
