@cornelltoharvard oh wow I think you will definitely get accepted. My essay was similar to yours in some sense. I talked about how I graduated from high school with a 1.4gpa and never planned on attending college but then found my passion in science during my gap year. I then talk about working to support my dad’s family while attending community college. I don’t think I have even a 0.0001% chance of getting accepted because I do not have any SAT/ACT scores to give them. Please let me know if you are accepted, I know how it is to go through struggle and would like to see you get in.
@zs2019transfer Thank you very much for the kind wishes. I don’t know how heavily the admissions committee weighs academic metrics, but I expect a holistic process that would take the context of your performance into account. I wish you the best.
@cornelltoharvard Getting an alumni interview is a good sign. There have been transfers from Cornell before, so keep your fingers crossed for May 3rd! (decisions are usually released the first Friday of May)
Ohhhhhhh Yeaaaa!! The suspense yos. Also cornell released decisions today!
When do decisions come out?
Like if you agree with my name
Yeah when do decisions come out bros
I think based off of the past couple years it will most likely come out the first Friday of May, which is May 3rd… but that’s not official, just an estimate.
Are people who have been offered an alumni interview the only ones who may be admitted later? I haven’t heard anything. Does that mean a straight reject?
@ArtistNatureLove I wouldn’t think about it that way. See https://college.harvard.edu/are-there-interviews-transfer-applicants : “Generally, we do not conduct interviews for transfer applicants. Should the Admissions Committee need more information regarding your application, our office will contact you.”
I’d definitely say an interview is a good thing because they want more info on you, but not getting one does not mean anything
I think on their website they said that the last day they have to send out letters is on June 1st, but I am sure that they will not wait until the last day to let people decide where they want to go. What do you all think?
Harvy is having their admit week this weekend.
They usually send decisions in early May. I’m expecting this Friday at 5pm, if the established trend holds.
Does anyone know for sure what day?
@goodreads Harvard typically releases decisions on the first Friday of May, excluding the years in which the first Friday is the first or second day of the month. I know that May 3 wouldn’t be unprecedented, as Harvard released 2013’s decisions on May 3. I’d wager that we’ll have our decisions at 5:00 p.m. EST on May 3, 2019.
Since 2013, always 1st Friday in May, at 5 pm.
2018 May 4, a Friday
2017 May 5, a Friday
2016 May 6, a Friday
2015 May 8, a Friday
2014 May 9, a Friday
2013 May 3, a Friday
Last year they had 1600 transfer applicants and accepted 12. Good luck with the lottery.
I feel a stupid need to point out that May 9th was not the first Friday of May 2014 and May 8th was not the first Friday of May 2015.
But yes, it will likely be released in 5.25 hours.
^This is hilarious. Good luck all
lol true… but I agree, it seems that the first friday must fall on the 3rd or later and those two years, the first friday’s came before. so it’s looking good for today.
