My major would be Government/Politics!

You seem to have done pretty well in High School. Being a Hispanic, I’d say you have a very good shot at getting in.

Thanks!

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump

I will chance back!

Are you planning to play tennis? If so, it would be a big edge in your application especially, as applied to Harvard, Cornell and Penn, where your grades/scores are a tad below the mean…That means, even a female URM, you need to make a compelling statement why–as they receive a fair amount of applicants from your area with many of the same particulars.

No tennis. My strengths are EC’s and essays. My grades and SAT’s are what’s weak. What do you think?

I am also tri-lingual, URM, and 1st gen

My candid assessment is that you are remarkably on the fence for all of the listed Ivy institutions.n That said, my daughter is at Yale with a SAT just 20 points higher, than your own. She is also an URM female (native) but with a probably more compelling personal statement (that was not meant to be offensive or slight against you) as she has lived in and did a ton of community work on our ancestral lands. She also articulated a strong interest in going to STEM fields, which are currently being highly recruited for females–and her high SAT score was 770 in math. Her sister, ironically, had a SAT in the mid 2200s, and was accepted at only one Ivy (this one was accepted at 3 out of 4 Ivies) --so scores are not everything. So, while your right on the edge, I would still encourage you to go forward with an application.

Buuuuuuuuuuuumppppp

Hey buddy! I think that your ECs are absolutely outstanding, and he fact that you’re first gen… You have a great shot at all the schools you’re apllying too. The Ivies are always going to be tough, but if your essays are great, you have a great shot. chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1702627-hey-all-if-you-could-chance-me-ill-chance-you-back.html#latest</a> Thanks!

Your chances look great. Although your scores aren’t amazing, you have a strong hook and great ECs, which should be enough! Ivy admissions are always a bit unpredictable, but your chances are looking strong.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuump

yours stats are a bit low, which might imply that you spend too much time on your ECs (which are pretty impressive btw). But you have decent chances as long as your essays are good. How do you even do so many ECs?

I really enjoy doing stuff out of school, so obviously my scores are slightly lacking. Don’t they prefer the quality of my EC’s over slightly higher stats?

Really depends on the institution.

Thank you! Anyone else?

Look at the common data set for each of those schools. They will tell you how much emphasis they place on hs grades and test scores. That’s how they weed out the contenders at most schools.
The UC’s dont allow affirmative action, by law, so your hispanic status doesn’t matter at those schools. The ivies look at kids in the 2300’s. You’re not a STEM major, so you wouldn’t be in a preferred major.
Get some safeties on your list to be admitted to at least some colleges.

Would GW be a match or close safety? I am also applying to UC Davis.
