<p>Here's an interesting bit of history: Stanford Research Institute (SRI) was founded in conjunction with Stanford in 1946. SRI later created the Augmentation Research Center (ARC), lead by Douglas Engelbart, inventor of the computer mouse. When ARC's founding ran dry in the early 1970s, most of its scientists fled to nearby Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), which, as we know, is the birthplace of many computing technologies in use today.</p>
