Anyone have a guess how many will be accepted this year? Anyone out there hoping? What schools are you going to?

I would guess 50 or so.

I'm hoping to get in. If not, I'll go to Cornell.

By the way Byerly, do you know how much an alumni's recommendation weighs in the waitlist process? My alumni interviewer told me he called a person in the admissions office to put in another good word for me. Hopefully it helps.

It can help. Certain local and regional alumni interviewers are well wired into the process.

hmmm, I wonder who is wired into this process?? ;-)

Byerly,

My interviewer from Yale called the admissions office to make a case for me. He told me the admissions officer he talked to said she liked my essay and would make a very strong case for me. Should I take that as a very good sign or not make too much of it?

I am waitlisted at Harvard as well but without any such connections.

Keep your fingers crossed, while recognizing that the odds are long.
