Did any of you waitlistees get acknowledgement of your decision to stay on the waiting list? I didn't and I'm just a little worried that they didn't get my card because I got a letter and then an email and a postcard from my other waitlist schools. Thanks and good luck to us in the un-waitlisting process.

nope, no confirmation here either.

I just realized that I received an email telling me that I have not yet replied whether I would like to remain on the waiting list or not.
Excuse me, but I sent back my reply card AS SOON AS I received it ...??????
When I visited the admissions office, they checked my status on the computer, and told me that I was on the waiting list.

What's going on????

And come to think of it, no, no confirmation received.

No, I didn't receive any confirmation here in CA, but I also sent in a letter confirming my desire to remain on the waitlist....so they should have received more than a single card acknowledging my interest.

I heard they are still waiting on a couple hundred responses from accepted students...but it is looking tight...don't expect much.

So you're saying that at this rate, Harvard won't be going to their waitlist? ='(
If you don't mind me asking, from whom did you hear this?

Sound like an over interpretation?

Personally I just called them up to make sure I was on the waitlist still...

Ahh, this is like December and March all over again... I'd do anything to have this excruciating experience to pay off in the end; I really hope it is worth it.

we are all in the same boat here.
I'm gonna call the admissions office on Monday to see if they have their numbers yet.

Yeah, I didn't get a confirmation either. But I sent a letter in so they know that I am interested.

what address did you guys send letters of interest to? the brattle street one?

Yes as to Brattle, but they will also receive letters to the old address since it is basically on the same block (just a different street address).

BTW, I see that a lot of Harvard waitlistees are also on Stanford's waitlist. How many of us are there waiting for both Harvard and Stanford. I think the odds are much better at Harvard, don't you think?

I am a Harvard student, and I will tell you that there were a lot of admitted students at this year's pre-frosh weekend that were very happy with the campus. We had great weather and there were some amazing activities and I think a lot of people were very happy with Harvard as their college choice. That said, this year might not look good for the waitlist, unfortunately. I didn't come across many people who were especially undecided, although there were a few. I wish you luck regardless.

i got that email saying that i hadnt responded to the waitlist offer and that i can respond by this monday. i already depostied at another ivy tho... can i still do the harvard waitlist even tho?

besta> you can still be on harvard's waitlist. If harvard accepts you, you're gonna lose the deposit for another ivy, though.

This is a side question, but does anyone know the email for harvard admissions? Since I couldnt find it online.

They don't give out email addresses for harvard admissions, or for individual admission officers. There's an online form from which you can send a message to the admission office. I sent one a long time ago, but I didn't get any reply...so I'm not sure it's still in use. You should probably just call the admission office.

Very weird. it also happened to my daugher. She sent card to Harvard in Singapore, but they sent message to her to reply by Today. Many cards are missing??

I heard from my regional admissions officer after contacting them about my waitlist. They said last week that it's "looking tight." Probably not going to the waitlist

Well, first Stanford sends us all an email saying that they are not going to use their waitlist and now MallomarCookie's regional admissions source says it's "looking tight" for Harvard...and "probably not going to use the waitlist".

It seems strange to me that the ADCOM would spend time sorting through the waitlistees and then send out emails to those applicants who had not replied back stating that if they wanted to remain on the list they could still reply by today (May 7th)...seems like conflicting facts. Just looking at the facts, last year Harvard accepted 2109 applicants and then took 15 off of the waitlist accepting a total of 2124 (with an 80% yield). Assuming that this year's yield remains 80% (I don't know if this is a sound assumption) and with the ADCOM having accepted only 2059 applicants, one might think that the school should take at least 20-30 people off of the list. Of course the unknown variables are how many acceptees will decide on their own choice to defer for a year (normally 50-70) and what this year's yield will be.

After reviewing the May press releases for the last two years, the Crimson released the Class 2010 and Class 2009 acceptance yields on May 11, 2006 (Friday) and May 12, 2005 (Friday) respectively...so we might know the yield and have a better idea whether Harvard will be going to the waitlist this coming Friday, May 10th if they following their historical trend.

I think MC is probably correct that it will be a lean year, if any, for the waitlist and that we should not get our expectations up...However, I prefer to remain somewhat positive even though going to Duke is a very nice alternative for me and MC. Besides there is always the possibility of being on the Z-List which I understand may be approximately 40 people, although only 20-30 actually take the offer.

We'll just have to wait until Friday to read the article and then assess whether there is any "possibility" of Harvard going to their waiting list. Good luck to all...small as it may be.
