If you really want to go Harvard, by all means take the Z list spot. Ten years from now the one year you take off will have shrunk to insignificance, and you will be a Harvard grad for the rest of your life.

However, if you have no big desire for Harvard and would rather not delay a year, or if Brown is a better fit for you, then go to Brown.

also, no one said this to you yet but congratulations! competition is very tough for those final spots, and you had to receive a majority vote from the Committee to get the offer, just like everyone else.

i only applied to 5 schools: stanford, mit, harvard, cal, and ucsd. i got into cal and ucsd, was waitlisted at stanford, and was rejected by mit. i'll be in cambridge in the fall. (even if im still getting orientation reminders from ucsd after i've officially turned down my acceptance at least 6 times... oh the bureaucracy)

take the Z-list for the year off! it is amazing. it is so hard to believe right now, and I know it because I was really willing to go somewhere I didn't want to go to not take a gap year last year, but the gap year may be as important if not more important to my college education than anything else.

has anyone else still not heard from harvard? i'm getting a little frustrated... shouldn't they know who's attending in the fall by now? why keep people on the wait list?

i still havent heard either. when i called like 2 weeks ago, the secretary told me i was still on the waitlist, and that i justhave to wait and see......i wish they would hurry up though. this is just annoying

Apparently the Harvard alumni got a list of who got accepted, and our names (those who are still on the wait list) were under "Special Mention."
I wish we could get an answer now!

Well, I received the rejection yesterday, 7/9/07, so I guess that's it for the long ride. It's been fun. Good luck to everyone wherever you all ended up.
