So I like you would think that yeild due to increased early accpetances would increase meaning a potential 82% yield lets say - so that would mean 1664 people? How many does H aim to have in a class? That would impact how many might get a spot off the waitlist…Do you know @gibby how many came off the waitlist last year - it probably would be slightly lower? - do they announce it? It looks like very few will get a spot off the waitlist I fear…

How many were taken off waitlist last year @gibby. It looks like if 82% yield this year 1664 will take their place and how many do H aim to have? Looks like even less chance than last year - no?

Haha @Aerovjks - beat me to it…

46: [Harvard College Admissions § Applying: Statistics](http://www.admissions.college.harvard.edu/apply/statistics.html)

BTW: Harvard’s total admits from last year is listed on the stats page as 2,076 (higher than published totals in the Crimson). That may be due to Zlisters being included in the overall number. Harvard has about 1660 beds.

Thanks @gibby. But it says class of 2016 had 2076 admitted? Which is not the same number u posted earlier - which one is right? If 81% last year of 2076 - then 1682 accepted? And this year -82% hypothetically would give 1663? Is 46 number that got off waitlist - it’ doesn’t say in link? Sorry to bombard you - you are v v helpful so thanks

@gibby - is it true that Z listers are all legacies or are there other cases such as waitlisted applicants who ask to be/ say they are open. To being deferred?

See: [Harvard Accepts Record Low of 5.9 Percent to the Class of 2016 | News | The Harvard Crimson](<a href=“Harvard Accepts Record Low of 5.9 Percent to the Class of 2016 | News | The Harvard Crimson”>Harvard Accepts Record Low of 5.9 Percent to the Class of 2016 | News | The Harvard Crimson)

As I said, the numbers in the Crimson are not in agreement with the numbers on the Harvard Stat page. The difference is probably Zlisters, which the Crimson did not include in their count. BTW: Zlisters are not all legacies.

Hey all. Just thought i’d introduce myself as a Harvard waitlister… It’s torture, like waiting for initial results again! Does anyone know when z-listers are notified? I’m which is just why I thought if i had any chance of getting off the wait list it would be through that… Where has everyone else deposited in the meantime?

So what impact will the cancelation of visitas have on the yield?

^^ There’s already a thread for that: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1494356-effects-canceled-visitas.html

Forget about it, Kid. You sound like you were drinking HU Kool-aid about (and I have HU degree). It’s a great school, no more. From what you wrote, I see no reason why you should be there and only there (nothing personal here). Move on and enjoy your other college/university at its fullest.

im getting nervous…

“BTW: Harvard’s total admits from last year is listed on the stats page as 2,076 (higher than published totals in the Crimson). That may be due to Zlisters being included in the overall number. Harvard has about 1660 beds”

This is because they admitted 46 off the waitlist and originally admitted 2032 if I remember correctly. So 2076 is the final number. Some from 46 may be zlisters but I know several who thought they were initially admitted to zlist off the waitlist actually made the 2016 cut. D was on the waitlist thread and so I followed last year’s waitlist very religiously. They started throwing people of the waitlist in bunches when they determined gaps did not exist based on the student’s profile. A major chunk of the waitlist was thrown out at one point but a few on CC remained on the waitlist who got offered positions.

Suffice it to say national awards actually make zero difference for those on waitlist. It is more important to Harvard to fill the gaps - these might be based on Social economic status, geography, major, race or sex more than anything that the candidate may have done.

@texaspg,

Do you remember when roughly Harvard threw people out of the waiting list? Say, if the number of wait listed people is roughly 2000 people now, how many will remain in the wait list after they throw people out? Will Harvard ever contact the students who still remain on the waiting list and let them know how many there are still in the waiting list? Or only the ones who were removed from the list were notified?

Thanks!

I went through this thread and I think the big day was a Friday around 5/17 or so for many.

If you keep following the thread some people got admitted much later.

Yield should be announced next week I’m guessing? Or at least that’s when it was in previous years. Any people want to place their guesses before its announced!? Lower? Higher? Effect of visitas? How are wait listers feeling at the moment?

I am guessing closer to what it was two years ago - 77% yield, rather than the 81% yield of last year.

I agree. I feel visitas won’t have more than a 2% effect. I am a waitlisted candidate. I’m just trying to stay optimistic, although i most likely won’t get off the waitlist.

Should we start making a list of people on the waitlist like last year and when people hear any news they can share with everyone?
