A family friend was recently deciding among Harvard, Yale and Chicago and decided on Yale, despite Harvard’s better aid package. (We are thrilled for her.) math major

I got into Princeton, Yale, Stanford, and decided on Yale.

More people I know.

MR. T : Harvard/Princeton ----> Harvard
Mr. H: Yale/Stanford —> Stanford

I got Yale, Princeton, and Stanford…I just loved Yale’s environment and campus over Stanford’s more “bubble” type atmosphere (campus is a bit too spread out in my opinion)…so I chose Yale–it was a really tough decision (as I’m sure it is for anyone on this board)

Every year, the order is similar. Harvard is the clear #1 (by 65%-75%), Yale is the clear #2 (by about 60%), and MIT, Stanford, and Princeton more or less split admits between each other.

Harvard (65% over Yale, 73% over Stanford/MIT, 75% over Princeton)

Yale (59% over MIT, 60% over Stanford, 62% over Princeton)

MIT (51% over Stanford, 53% over Princeton)

Stanford (52% over Princeton)

DunninLA, the paper you cite constructs an example of a revealed preferences ranking. It does not claim to be definitive. The paper is very interesting to read, but it should not be used to claim that one school beats another in cross-admit battles.
