Harvard, Yale, Princeton Stanford or ?

we don't have rankings, but the smartest math/science person got into MIT, and the smartest english/history person got into Yale. we also had a harvard acceptance, a columbia acceptance, and five or six stanford acceptances. there was also a williams, but that was for athletics.

Every year we have one or two people get into really prestigious schools; some choose to go, some don't. This year it's MIT, last year Caltech, two years ago Stanford, three years I'm not sure, four years I think it was Harvard, before that there was another MIT and the list goes on. We usually have 1-2 people go to University of Chicago each year. I think my english teacher says the one school we haven't "cracked" yet is Swarthmore.

That's impressive...Do you go to a prepschool, or is it public?

prepschool. it's definitely one of, if not the best in the bay area. and for some reason stanford LOVES us. last year i think something like 15 (out of 60 seniors...probably about 30 applied to stanford) got in there.

i applied to yale and got deferred. i'm assuming you applied there too, considering your SN. EA or RD? if EA, did you get in?

1 Stanford- Deferred

3 MIT- Deferred

7 Stanford- Accepted (me)

1 Yale - Accepted (me)

2 No EA/ED

3 Yale - Rejected

5 <-(i think) Harvard - deferred

In my school, only about 30% of the people go to college, and about 50% of the ones that do go to college go to BYU-Idaho or BYU-Utah because like 90% of everyone in my city are mormons.

But from my school:

1 Person is applying to Amherst/Swarthmore
3 People are applying to UVA (i am one of them)
1 Person is applying to WUSTL
1 Person is applying to UNC-Chapel Hill (me)
1 Person is applying to Duke and Wake Forest
1 Person is applying to Brown (me)
1 Person is applying to Rice (me)

yay. someone from out of state applying to Rice. I applied interim. only one person from my school has gotten accepted to rice in the past ten years.

The smartest person in my school got a 1560 on her SAT, is one of the most brilliant students I've ever met, and is going to the University of Rochester. She doesn't want to go to a school where people only apply because of the name. Props to her.

From out school:
11 students got in ed penn (8 deferred)
2 ea to harvard (1 def)
1 yale (6 def)

Last Year:

1 3/4 merit at Wake

2 Morehead Scholar at UNC

3 Duke

4 Duke full merit scholarship

5 Duke

This year:

1 Morehead Semifinalist

1 Stanford EA (yours truly)

3 Doesn't care (only Duke and UNC RD)

4 Deferred Yale EA (probably actually the smartest person)

4 No EA (only likes ED schools like Pomona; not ready to comit)

4 Deferred Harvard EA

6-Yale, Deferred
8-Harvard, Deferred (URM, Fee waiver...really surprised)
10-MIT, Deferred

30something-Northwestern, Rejected
50something-Brown, Deferred

Total: 1 Acceptance, 9 Deferrals, 1 Rejection from top 25ish schools.

Edit: Oh, and a bunch of people got in ED to Florida...don't know how many...
Also, not sure about the exact ranks of most of them, but they are close enough.

We have a lot of people in a massive tie for 1st (my school doesn't weight GPA), but of the 4.0s:

Stanford admitted 5, defered 2
Harvard admitted 2
Princeton admitted 1
Yale admitted 1, deferred 2

Those are the only schools I've heard about, but I'm sure there are more.

yea...blah, we didn't do so hot this year

early admission stats:
stanford (5 accepted/5 deferred)
harvard (1 deferred)
yale (1 deferred/1 rejected)
mit (0)
princeton (2 accepted)

our school
1 - didn't bother to apply (weak candidate)
2 - deferred MIT
3 - deferred Harvard
4 - rejected Stanford
5 - Williams ED (me)
6 - rejected Stanford
7 - didn't apply
8 - UTA ustin
9 - UTAustin

My school doesn't officially rank.

1 Harvard EA acceptance (me)

1 Yale EA deferral
1 Stanford EA rejection
And a whole ton of kids accepted to Michigan + Wisconsin

Class of 2002 Overland high School Aurora, CO

Johns Hopkins

Smith

University of Colorado

MIT (me)

Yale (though I'll probably go to Dartmouth if accepted)

deferred MIT

the rest I don't know exact numbers but they were in the top 10 or so

Brown: accepted
MIT: accepted
Wharton: deferred
Umich: accepted
Swarthmore: rejected
Penn: 4 accepted
